Mombasa Tusks
We'll take a picture with the Elephant Tusks in Mombasa. They are on Moi Avenue, and they were commissioned to commemorate a visit of Queen Elizabeth in 1952.
Mombasa
We'll stop at the Spice Market. It’s the oldest market in Mombasa. It was built in 1914 by the British Colony. We get tourists from all around the world who visit the market. In it you’ll find all kinds of Spices - what will you try? Will it be cardamom, pepper, turmeric… or some new curry powders?

I booked group tour, but it was private. Very kind guide with a great knowledge, very individual, a lot of nice impressions of the city and big knowledge about Mombasa. I would book again with Humphrey.

It was my first time to visit fort Jesus and I am glad I was toured around by Humphrey. From the word go he made me feel welcomed and ensured that each part of the tour I had grasped the history of fort Jesus. He took very great photos of me and I am glad I had him as my tour guide. He took his time to let me absorb every detail he said and also gave time for me to explore the views and the surroundings. I recommend him 💯. Thank you Humphrey for the amazing tour.

I recently took a city tour of Mombasa and, unfortunately, it was a letdown. While the city's history and sights are fascinating, the experience was marred by the guide's conduct. Punctuality: The tour started 30 minutes late. While we understand that Mombasa traffic can be bad, no prior communication or apology was offered, which was an inconvenient start. The Guide's Demeanor: Our guide was visibly and audibly angry for a large portion of the tour, particularly at Fort Jesus. While his passion for history and the injustices faced by his ancestors is completely understandable, the delivery was aggressive. He used an angry tone that felt accusatory, making the atmosphere uncomfortable rather than educational. Lack of Professionalism: He constantly asked, "Do you understand me?" not to check on his language skills, but in a challenging way to see if we grasped his points. This felt confrontational. Furthermore, his repeated and unsubstantiated claims of being "the best tour guide in Mombasa" came across as arrogant and unprofessional. Sales Pitches: The tour included stops at specific shops. While the goods may have been quality items, the feeling that this was a forced commercial stop where the guide might be getting a commission was unmistakable and detracted from the authentic experience. Value for Money: Given the late start, the uncomfortable atmosphere, and the sales-oriented stops, the price charged for this tour was simply too high for what was delivered. The Highlights: The saving graces were the sights themselves. Visiting Fort Jesus, walking through the Old Town, seeing the old port, and exploring the spice market were wonderful experiences. It's a shame the guide's presentation overshadowed the beauty and history of these locations. Conclusion: I cannot recommend this particular guide. The combination of lateness, an accusatory tone, and a lack of joy in his work made for a stressful rather than enjoyable educational experience. Mombasa deserves a guide who can share its rich, complex history with both passion and professionalism. Look for other options.

Visit was for 16 days. Returned to Pride Inn Flamingo Beach Hotel. I knew the hotel from when it was part of ASC and also visited it Feb 24 and had a good experience so made a return visit with a nephew to assist me as I am disabled. My main aim of the holiday was to have a rest in the sun and there was plenty of that. As expected we were well looked after especially well by Eunice and Samson on the Front Desk. The food was always excellent as were the all inclusive drinks. Quite a few evening meals were outside with live music. I was supplied with a wheel chair by the hotel for my entire stay and there were always willing staff to relieve my nephew. I was bitten by an insect but was treated by their nurse. We got the honour of planting two coconut trees on our last day. I hope to repeat the visit soon. It's like going home. Note: the road from the airport is absolutely horrendous

I'm a solo traveler. I planned visiting this alone but at the last minute decided to get a guide for security and history telling. And Mr Humprey was the best guide I ever had since arriving Kenya. What best than a local guide, which knows the history off head and who's known by everyone. The experience was amazing. I'll recommend 100%. PS : he's also a great photographer, knows the best spot 😉

Humphrey is very knowledgeable and passionate about Mombasa’s culture and history, which was reflected on the tour. He mentioned that he wanted to provide the best service and he delivered! He made the history of Mombasa come alive, and I wanted to learn so much more. The tour was very informative, and Humphrey took care to ensure I felt OK in the heat, and that I was enjoying the tour. I also enjoyed a taste of travel in the tuk tuks. He took many photos creating some wonderful memories. I highly recommend this tour!

Great experience today walking with Humphrey. His knowledge is extensive. He clearly explained the rich history of the town, and the various cultural influences that created famous Mombasa landmarks, including Fort Jesus, old town, and spice market. Warm communication style. Lovely guy, very polite. I booked at the last minute. He was waiting for me when I arrived. I’m a solo traveller, and he helped me navigate the busy, bustling streets with care. Afterwards, Humphrey kindly led me to a coffee shop, where I enjoyed cold sparkling water and Swahili coffee. Thanks Humphrey, you helped me discover so much about Mombasa while enjoying a leisurely walk. Appreciate it. 10/10.

While the trip from our hotel at Diani Beach was only 30 minutes, the difference between the city life and beach life is stark. Fort Jesus was impressive and the Vegetable Market was eye-opening, the Tusks provideda great photo op . I would recommend a half day for this experience as that's enough time to enjoy the sights and sounds.
