Workshops run on Wednesdays from April until October
This weaving workshop isn’t just an activity – it’s a genuinely immersive, slow-living experience that you won’t find anywhere else in the area.
Led by a crafter/weaver from Prickly Thistle Mill, the workshop blends traditional weaving techniques with mindful creativity, giving guests the rare chance to properly switch off, learn a new skill, and create something meaningful with their own hands.
Set in a calm, welcoming space, this is an intimate, hands-on session rather than a large, commercial class, with expert guidance tailored to each participant, whether you’re a complete beginner or quietly creative.
You’ll leave not only with a beautiful woven piece, but with a deeper appreciation for craftsmanship, heritage, and the simple joy of slowing down – something truly special and hard to find locally.

Join us this summer and become an official Rebel Tartan Weaver! You will weave your own piece of tartan using one of our table looms and learn all what it takes to weave a tartan. Each loom will be prepared with a warp from our design our archives, ready to rebel on the minute you arrive. We will have a couple of different tartan designs for you to choose from on the day. By the end of this workshop you will have a piece of tartan to take home along with a certificate of authenticity, you will have officially become a rebel weaver! Duration - 3 hours Location - Rebel Row or Nook Studio (larger groups), confirmation of location provided 6 days before. Drinks and shortbread provided - please let us know of any dietary requirements you may have. Morning or afternoon sessions available each Wednesday. Maximum group size of 8 people per session. Our Rebel Row store is a 2 minute walk from the Nook Studio. For nearby parking we recommend the Eastgate Shopping Centre car park which has reasonable rates and is within a few minutes walking distance of both our store and the Nook Studio.

5.00This was an amazing experience and one of the favorite things we did on this trip! Claire is so fun, and she does an excellent job of teaching how to weave and the history of tartan. I loved the hands on cultural experience and the chance to live history. SO cool! Highly recommend!

5.00Just had an amazing weaving afternoon yesterday - a present for a friend & a shared activity. It was great fun with a lovely friendly group of other participants, all of whom were new to weaving. There was enough challenge to make us all come away with a real sense of achievement - as well as a lovely piece of unique tartan. Claire our hostess and teacher was a delight - friendly, supportive and a lovely natural storyteller with a wealth of history to impart. Thank you so much!
