You must take a ferry or float plane to get to Friday Harbor on San Juan Island where our tour departs from. We recommend taking the ferry as a walk on passenger.

Killer whales in the wild!

5.00Great boat ride to ultimately see 6 killer whales! I know there’s no guarantee you’ll find them but we did; we also got to see both seals and sea lions as well! There were 3 naturalists on board who roamed the boat and educated us about where we were going and the wildlife we got to see. Definitely worth doing!

5.00Our whale watching trip with San Juan Safaris was exceptional. Captain Gabe and the MV Sea Lion took great care of all the passengers and our onboard naturalist, Olivia, kept us entertained and educated about all the wildlif we did (and didn't) see. We saw harbor porpoises galore, a number of bald eagles and harbor seals (rock sausages) too. The highlights of the expedition were watching a Steller Sea Lion tease some surrounding gulls with his catch du jour, and then getting to see two family groups of Orcas traversing the Haro Strait. Truly an unforgettable day!

5.00It was a fantastic trip. Even on a sunny day it will be cold so bundle up. We saw a baby humpback whale and the captain knew everyone wanted to see Orca so when we heard a pod had been sighted he rushed over to see them even if it meant we would be out an hour longer than expected.

5.00This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. We saw so much wildlife, including a locally infamous family of orcas and a surprise humpback on its way to Mexico! Abby, our naturalist guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and we learned so much from her. Vaughn, our captain, was also great. We had an incredible experience and would 100% recommend doing this to get a front seat to the unbelievable natural beauty of the San Juans.

5.00Excellent whale watching tour! Our naturalists were knowledgeable and friendly and our captain did a great job getting us to a location where we saw a pod of 4 killer whales. We also saw other wildlife during the trip including bald eagle, sea lions, porpoises, and harbor seals. It felt like the right length of an activity. I recommend this trip! Make sure to bring layers to protect you from the wind, even if it's a sunny day. Pack a snack or pick up something from the cafe connected to the check-in office.
