  Our driver Ilham was excellent. Would absolutely recommend going with him. He gave us lots of information before taking us to both temples. The.temples are spectacular, and it's definitely worth doing the climb. We asked to go earlier to Borobudur as rain was expected, and he agreed. This made a huge difference as we got experience the temple in the dry. Brilliant tour.

  This was a package for a private van for 6 adults and 1 child to visit Borobudur Temple followed by Prambanan temple complex. It included tickets for both places, and also to walk up Borobudur Temple and a guide included. Only 150 people per hour are permitted to climb so we had a time slot. Note that walk up is closed Mondays, we went on Sunday. One of our party needed a wheelchair to get to the Temple and we hired the wheelchair which comes with someone to push to get from the entry gate, on to the free purple shuttle and then to the actual temple. Since we had very little time in Yogijakarta we decided this was the best package for us. The driver helped us to get to the entry area, where we are issued with slippers and water, shoes are allowed in the grounds but slippers for climbing the steps into the Temple area and up the levels. The actual Temple is not wheelchair accessible but our family member was able to climb each level slowly, there are hand rails. The trip does not include lunch, our driver took us to a place which was a Dutch themed restaurant for snacks tea and excellent coffee, a bit upmarket which is what we asked for. The trip to Prambanan from Borobudur takes around 1.5 hours, and our driver was happy to stop for any toilet breaks or to pop into a supermarket on the way. Prambanan itself is beautiful and consists of several temples at the main site, then Sewu Temple which is about 2km walk in the grounds. It's possible to hire a shuttle at 15,000 Rupees each person (about £1 per person) to get to the other temples or hire bikes. We walked with a wheelchair. Toilets are everywhere and water is available, our package included water for our party. We wanted to visit a restaurant called Suwetu after Prambanan because it's close by and recommended, and our driver agreed to take us there and then take us back to our hotel and didn't ask for extra but we gave extra and also asked him to join us for the lunch and dinner, though he took only coffee. I would say that although it's a bit more expensive than other packages, we had a wonderful driver Mr Vega, the pick up was prompt, the package included all tickets, water and walk up Borobudur plus Mr Vega was flexible, taking us to a fantastic restaurant we had prebooked separately ourselves near the Prambanan Temple so we didn't have to worry about booking additional taxis. The van was clean, with air con and extremely comfortable. It was a really great day and totally worth it for the short time we had here.

  Borobudur climb up tour and Prambanan temple tour: Our Two temple tour day trip was personalized to fit our needs. Our guide was amazing. We communicated on whatsapp for arrangements and it was easy, efficient and detailed. As soon as we were finished with one temple, we messaged him for pickup and he was there waiting with cold water and was very accommodating the entire day. Our driver first picked us up from the hotel and relayed exactly where we were going first. He was fluent in English which was a plus! He confirmed our trip details for the day and if we wanted to add anything here or there or change anything he was so accommodating and helpful with our every need. Our first stop was the Borobudur temple. I’m happy we got here first thing in the morning as it was hot. Make sure to wear light colored clothing and bring a hat and light scarf to cover yourself from the sun. Our guide Vega checked us in and we were able to walk around the temple and take pictures before it even opened. He then guided us to the area where we were meeting our tour guide and group. At this point, everyone’s needs to change into the shoes given by the temple for the tour onto the temple grounds. Our guide then made sure we were comfortable, gave us more water and took our sneakers and bags back to the car while we went on the tour. The temple was just breathtaking. And our temple tour guide there made the tour so interesting and fun. We then proceeded to lunch at the most beautiful restaurant! This was a pleasant surprise as it was almost a site to visit in itself! The next stop were the Prambanan and Candi Sewu temples. This took a few hours as the grounds are large. It was hot here as well so make sure to bring a hat and water with you. And there were lots of people here. Again, our guide was so informative and explained the history of the temples and told us exactly where to enter and to just WhatsApp him when we are done and he’ll be waiting. A very knowledgeable, friendly guide and an incredibly enjoyable visit. We would highly recommend Vega and team for your tour to the temples! Another unforgettable experience!
