  • Sapa Original Trek - An Unforgettable Experience

Sapa Original Trek is a wonderful experience. Mr Tinh organised my trek for me and was in constant communication with me to make sure I was ready for the day. The company organised a pick up car from the hotel and back, making transport very easy. They provide you with raincoats (you get to keep them) and enough food and water for the whole experience. My hiking guide’s name was Mr Choo. Mr Choo was a very experienced hiker who has been climbing mountains in Sapa region 2-3 times a week since 2016/2017. He was very knowledgeable about the mountains, even showing me medicinal herbs and plants that could be eaten or foraged. Mr Choo was very patient and adjusts his pace according to your abilities. If you are not fit or experienced, he will guide you through the whole process patiently and kindly. The hike is not difficult if you are moderately fit. It is not a technical climb but there are steep inclines that require you to climb ladders. The food made by Mr Choo during the hike is delicious and plentiful. My girlfriend and I were served so much food that we couldn’t eat it all. We had a large bread roll with chicken, egg and fresh vegetables. There was chilli sauce as well if you like a bit of spice. We were served several local fruits that were washed, peeled and neatly served on a plate. We were also given Vietnamese snacks that we could eat then or save for the remainder of the hike. Once you reach the summit, you are awarded with a certificate of completion and a medal. It’s a nice feeling to receive it and you appreciate that the tour guide has recognised your efforts. After the hike, you have the option of taking the cable car back down or walking back down. The cable car is a nicer way to end it because you get to enjoy the views on the way down and appreciate how far you just hiked! If you choose the cable car option, the driver that initially drove you to the mountain will meet you near Muong Hoa station and drive you back to your accommodation. Overall, the organisation and overall experience of the day trek was excellent. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who is in Sapa and I am thankful to Mr Tinh and his team for their wonderful services.

Great hiking day! Challenging and fun Private is wayyyy better than group. Book this! Even if it's rainy or cloudy it is worth doing! And my guide Chi made amazing lunch and our driver was so helpful letting me use the shower afterwards, and showing me where to go in Sapa and how to catch the bus back to Lao Cai station.

This was an amazing and fulfilling experience. My guide Cho was patient, calm and made sure I was safe during my trek. It was a challenging hike if you are not prepared or used to hiking inclines. But every step was worth it and I am beyond happy that I got to experience it.

It was a fantastic experience, immersed in nature and surrounded by the beauty of the Vietnamese mountains! The hotel pick-up service was very punctual and the car was very comfortable (a modern Ford pick-up, very clean and spacious). When we arrived at the starting point, the guide gave us 1.5L of water each and we started the climb towards the summit. He guided us step by step and it was quite easy to speak with him in English. Passing through the first base camp we then reached the second. There, inside a small building we had lunch (early since we had set off at around 7 am). The meal that the guide brought was good and plentiful and there was also fruit! Then we continued towards the summit. It must be said that the route is demanding and to tackle the trek in a day you need to be at least a little prepared, especially during the wet season (we climbed in August) not only for the physical effort but also for the path that is sometimes impervious (which does not depend on the guide but on the nature of the territory and the mountains themselves). We then reached the top after crossing the section that can also be reached by cable car. There usually is crowded so except for the early morning you won’t be alone there. Our guide gave us medals and a sort of certificate for doing the fansipan trek. Very appreciated! So after we came down following the same road. I want to say something that is not related to our guide: the fansipan trek is not an easy walk (especially doing that in one day), you’ve got to walk 19,5 Km with a total elevation of 1.800+ m (and the same by going down), the trail sometimes is muddy and the wet rocks and wood were splippery, there are a lot of stairs after the middle part of the trail. Not a joke, consider that and you’re own ability. That is part of the beauty of this place!!

My 1st hiking trip, and it was memorable. Glad to have the experienced female guide (Ser, I am not sure if her name is spelt as such) guiding my good friend and I along the way to the top. Ser was very professional yet pleasant and patient. She was also very attentive, and she noticed that I had a headache as we were climbing higher. She immediately offered me paracetamol for it. (thank goodness she noticed, which I deeply do appreciated a lot😊) Ser even taught us some of the plants along the way, which makes the hike interesting. On & off, she also shows us ladies concern, such as are we alright with the pace, are we tired, etc. I would recommend her to be the guides for amateur hikers😊
