Phwar what a long day! Petra is of course worth it, but you need to consider a few things before you book this trip: - It is an extremely long day, most of which you will spend on buses and boats (up to 9 hours each way) - Starts from 1am and will get you home a similar time 24 hours later - If you are English-speaking, it’s worth noting this is a predominantly Russian-speaking tour. The main tour guide seems excellent (who does the Russian bit), with the English speaking guide leaving a lot to be desired - The food is quite low quality and the canteen where we ate choatic and rushed - chicken and other items were cold so I mostly didn’t risk it, making this quite pointless. Bring lots of snacks and water!! Overall I enjoyed Petra so much that it made it worth it despite these down-sides. Would I do it this way again? Probably not. My advice? - If it’s your only option - do it. - If you can spend a night over in Jordan, this would be far more preferable allowing you to enjoy it more without feeling totally exhausted

The tour was very well organized given how many people were present and the short time frame you’re operating in. The food was lackluster and they charge you for water, soda, and/or juice. You will be tired by the end but glad you did it.

I went together with my brother. The trip started at 00:30am and took roughly 24hrs. Tour was well organized with pickup, big bus, ferry, bus in Jordan and back. We had the full 4hours in Petra as advertised which was important to us. 2 hours guided tour + 2 hours to explore on our own - good split. For exploration time we spent 1 hour to climb up the mountain to the sanctum for a great view. Groups were separated into russian speaking, polish speaking and english speaking. Our english speaking guide Raid was great - very knowledgable, laid back guy. Lunch at a restaurant after the tour was a buffett and very decent as well. The tour itself as we experienced it was a 5* - just taking a star off as the price is on the higher side - but as a once in a lifetime we can definetly recommend it as its not just the sandstone walls but the narrow gorges and valleys are impressive as well + Aqaba is very pretty and the ferry ride is quite fun and helps to lighten up the trip. The whole trip is a bit exhausting but you can catchup on sleep during the bus ride and onboard the ferry.

Quick fire: Petra is a 7 wonder of the world and rightly so. It's vast in size, simply breathtaking and utterly beautiful. The photos, films and TV shows haven't overdone it, it's full of surprises! The tour was very well organised. Jordan: beautiful country, lovely people. Travelling in December was still great: 24C in Aqaba, 19C in Petra. 26ac in Sharm. All Sunny & dry. I felt safe & welcome from arriving. Egyptian side is different : also a fantastic country however be aware there is a notable security risk for tourists so the drive up from Sharm is relatively slow as we went through checkpoints and awaited a police escort on the highway. Reassuring, but slow. Customs / immigration to get out of Egypt and into Jordan is VERY slow. Almost frustratingly slow: and that's before the staff didn't turn up on time in Jordan to allow us back onto the catamaran and the scheduled departure to come back was missed by some 2 hours. This is quite common. So be prepared and be flexible and patient! The day therefore was a full 25 hours pick up to drop off and exhausting. Beware of this before you book so you're prepared. But my god it's worth it. The guides incl Zaid in Jordan were EXCELLENT. He guided the English speaking group and was SO good. Educational, entertaining and ensured we had a good 90 mins free time in Petra. Lunch - in a Jordanian restaurant in Wadi Musa was average but incl (except drinks). If at all possible, get yourself into Jordan first, stay in earby Wadi Musa, get to Petra when it opens and spend a full day there. Then the next day too. And maybe a third. Bring a packed lunch. It's an awesome place. Despite the situation over the border(s) southern Jordan is very safe and the people desperately need the tourists. Petra is also very quiet so gives us a much better experience.
