The whole two-day tour was very unprofessional and not worth the money. The living conditions were very poor and minimal: only 3 hours of electricity and 4 hours of WiFi each day, and there was no clean water. We had to pay for bottled drinking water. We also got bed bug bites. Food was tasty, but limited supply—given the amount of money we paid, I would expect to at least have enough fruits, instead of one piece of fruit each person. All these could be tolerated if the tour was good, but no… Our guid was very unprofessional. He didn’t tell us any knowledge about the Amazon or the jungle except for pointing out some animals and plants. Nothing more—he didn’t talk much. He only talked to the person next to him and left the rest of the group wondering what they saw and what things were. He told us to meet at 6am the second day, but when we were ready, he just canceled the trip without reasons. And then when another person asked, he changed plan back to leaving without reasons either. His English was very poor—he barely understood us, and we barely understood him. He had a tough time formulating longer sentences in English, and we believe he couldn’t really talk about the region because of that. He is a nice guy and helped us get on and off the boat and with our luggage, but he was not trained to be an adequate and professional tour guide at all. It feels like the company just grabbed a random local guy who knows a little English to do this professional job. The whole trip was very disorganized. There were always 1-2 hours between activities or between activities and meals when we were left doing nothing. We were told to go back our rooms to “rest”, but the rooms had not even electricity and we were just sitting in heat and humidity doing nothing. The sites we visited were not exciting either. We hoped to see Amazon animals in their natural habitat, but we saw human fed animals in a village and zoo like animals in cages. Last but not least, we were given a feedback form in front of the camp crew, including the guide, to fill in. How could we write anything negative when our return boat ride was still in their hands? We would like to request a refund for at least half of what we paid. We paid 375 dollars each person, and our family all felt it was a ripoff for the service we got.

The Maniti Lodge eco experience was enjoyable! Segundo, our guide, was doting, fun, and told jokes as we hiked. Javier was our fearless and friendly boat driver. The one recommendation and change that would have made the trip even better would have been if Segundo walked with us at the animal sanctuaries and provided translations to English. We also didn’t get to fish since another group was paired with us & the guide made a schedule based off their timeline. Overall, we would recommend Maniti!

Monkey Island!! Hugging a sloth, befriending monkeys, holding a centipede, catching a piranha, the delicious group meals at Maniti Eco Lodge, our amazing guide Segundo.

I thoroughly enjoyed my tour. We got to do a lot in just two days. We saw many animals and hiked the jungle. Our guide Edwin was fantastic. I would do another tour with him. The accommodations are basic and fine for a night. The meals were yummy. We even got to eat our own piranha caught earlier that day. Be sure to bring cash tips for different things.
