The West of the island is one of the most, if not the most, impressive parts. You really don't want to miss all the sites around here or rush through them. The West is worth a full day of exploring on its own.

The best spots for views of the caldera and lakes are off the main road, and finding them is not easy. This experience includes them all, and you are only able to do this in a half day with the help of a local driving you.

You will see Sete Cidades Blue and Green lakes, from up and down the mountain, and also the best views for Santiago and Canário lakes, as well as the epic Grota do Inferno viewpoint.

We will follow to the darkest sand beach in the island, and dazzling natural pools, in Mosteiros. If its Summer time you can have a refreshing swim on the clear waters or save it for the open sea hot springs, heated by the breath of the volcano during low tide, at Ferraria.

This was an amazing private tour. Carlos was over the top we were in a cruise and we were delayed coming I. To the port. He was there waiting when we got off the ship. He was very informative and learned a lot about the area. We spent ample time at every stop and throughout enjoyed it all.

It was wonderful to see the island from a natives point of view. Carlos was full of knowledge and spoke perfect English. It was important to him that we got to see everything we wanted to see.

It was a nice experience, but my husband and I had already explored most of the locations the guide took us to. We are a young and adventurous couple and in hindsight wouldn’t have booked this tour had we realized we coulda done all this ourselves.

We had an amazing day thanks to our tour guide Rita! The weather was foggy & rainy but she tried her best to keep returning to the best views for pictures. We then had an amazing lunch of octopus , limpets & wine & she joined us at our request. Her love of the island is obvious & we learned so much about the Azores. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide or day! We hope to return one day to see the other islands in the Azores that were recommended by Rita! Great private tour!

We didn't have a lot of time to spend in Sao Miguel so we opted for this tour that would show us the highlights of the western side of the island. We were not disappointed! Carlos was our guide and he was great. He asked us questions and considered our interests while showing us all of the sites. He also was very proud to share history about the island. The area was beautiful and we highly recommend this tour.

Fantastic tour! Tour guide was an absolute pleasure, spoke great English, and knew a ton about the countryside! He catered the tour to my interests and was knowledgeable about how best to manage crowds and where to get the best photos. Highly recommend!

We had a fabulous time on our tour. Our tour guide Rita, was kind and friendly, she was funny and super informative. We learned so much on our tour and she took us to all the best sites and let us spend as much time as we wanted at each one. She even accommodated our son who had sprained his ankle and was on crutches, to make it easy and very enjoyable for him. This tour made us want to come back and see the other half of the island and when we do, we would only use Rita.
