Visit Marques de Riscal and Ysios, the two most prestigious wineries that produce excellent wines but also boast world-renowned architecture. In this tour you will be able to discover the magnificence of Rioja through a perfect fusion of vineyards, excellent wines and renowned architects such as Franck Gehry or Santiago Calatrava.
Visit Laguardia and take the best pictures form our secret spots and enjoy local tapas for lunch.
In case the Ysios winery was closed for visits (sometimes it happens as it´s a very special winery) we will upgrade you for a wine tasting in Carlos San Pedro winery with the best views over the Ysios winery and the Sierra Cantabria mountains. You will taste 4 wines paired with 3 local appetisers. And of course you will be able to take as many pictures as you want of the Ysios building!
* Please be aware that these wineries experience high demand and you´ll be joining a bigger group for the winery visit

What To Expect
Bodegas Marques de Riscal
We will start our Architectural Rioja Tour from Bilbao with a guided visit of the Marques de Riscal winery designed by one of todays leading architects, Franck Gehry. (Also famed for the Guggeheim museum in Bilbao). Expect to taste three different wines.
Laguardia
We will visit the Ysios cellar designed by Santiago Calatrava. The structure boasts many architectural features, for example, the roof aims to simulate te Sierra Cantabria (the mountain range that importantly helps to create the Rioja micro climate). In case Ysios is not open to the public that we will take you to Javier San Pedro winery (in front of Ysios winery) You will have a tutored tasting where you will taste two of their remarkable wines with an aperitif (normally Iberian ham).

5.00Wonderful tour of a small part of Rioja- the best part according to our exceptional guide Marina. The drive is through beautiful country in a comfortable van with great explanations of the area’s history, culture and cuisine. The tour of Marques de Riscal is informative and the tasting is wonderful. Also completely enjoyed the 2nd smaller vineyard with an interesting history and again a great wine tasting with nibbles. Completed the tour with a pintxos lunch and more wine followed by a gentle walk around the village of La Guardia. Overall a great way to spend the day.
A must visit for both the wines and the architectural marvels

5.00Very well organized, learned almost everything on wine making in both traditional and modern ways, the wine tasting section was great and our guide Marina even better. We did not get tired, we never felt uncomfortable and lunch was local and extremely good.

5.00The Rioja Wine and Architecture tour was fantastic! We were a group of seven international people in a comfortable van. Our tour guide, Marina, was very friendly and highly knowledgeable about Rioja wines. We visited the wineries Marqués de Riscal and Luis Cañas, where we enjoyed guided tours, tastings, and even a delightful lunch. Ysios was unfortunately closed but we had a photo stop there as well Every aspect of the tour was thoroughly enjoyable, and we can highly recommend it!
