Look for whales, dolphins and seabirds in the pristine waters of Hauraki Gulf just a short boat ride from Auckland city's Viaduct Harbour. Learn from experts on board working to protect these precious creatures and their fragile home. As an active marine-mammal research vessel every passenger contributes to important conservation efforts, just by coming on board.
A dollar from every ticket purchased goes towards the Hauraki Gulf Guardians fund which supports organisations and programs that aim to regenerate the Hauraki Gulf and ensure its future.

5.00Though we saw no whales, nor dolphins or sharks… we did enjoy a rare visit from a pod or Orcas and it was spectacular! Hope to able to try again soon. Cheers!

5.00It was a perfect day: a calm sea, generous sunshine, and a wonderfully dedicated, all-female crew whose warmth set the tone from the start. As we were already heading back, having caught only a single penguin on camera, the ocean surprised us one last time: several orcas — including their young — appeared on the horizon and glided past our boat at arm’s length. An unforgettable moment. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

4.00Had a great time on this trip especially as we had a dolphins, including a calf, swim with the boat for about 15-20 minutes. Sadly we didn’t see any whales. All the staff were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. The PA system was great and very clear. The only negative was there’s very little seating except indoors and some at the back of the boat but the front, where most people want to be for the best experience, was seriously uncomfortable. Maybe they could have some cushions available ?

5.00It was a beautiful day the crew was fantastic although we did not see any whales we did see many beautiful dolphins. The crew was informed and shared their knowledge with us.
Do not use Viator for this trip - they will let you down.

1.00Do not book this tour through Viator. We arrived at the location for this tour to be told that Viator had quoted the wrong time for the tour - it leaves at 13:00 and not 13:30 (fortunately we arrived early but heard that previously many Viator customers had missed the trip due to this unacceptable error) but sadly, the previous day the tour provider had taken the decision to cancel the trip due to adverse weather conditions and Viator decided not to bother to email me to let me know causing the loss of 3-4 hours of valuable sightseeing. Not the first time Viator admin has been found wanting. Will not be using this company again.

4.00Despite not seeing a single whale or dolphin, it was a nice afternoon at sea. The crew were super nice and did a lot of explaining regarding the various birds of which we saw plenty. It's not the company's fault the mammals didn't make an appearance as we knew it's hit or miss. We had a nice time and really enjoyed the boat trip

4.00We met a lot of dolphins! The weather was nice, and the cruise was pleasant. I wanted to see the whales, but this must be something rare. It was a tour worthy of a memorable Auckland trip. Thank you.
