The Venerable Thich Quang Duc Monument
On June 11, 1963, Thich Quang Duc rode to Saigon from the war-torn city of Huế in an Austin Westminster. He stepped out of the baby blue automobile onto a busy intersection and sat calmly in the lotus position while a colleague poured gasoline from a five-gallon container over his head. Surrounded by a circle of protesters, burned himself to death. He described his intentions in a final note: “I respectfully plead to President Ngo Dinh Diem to take a mind of compassion towards the people of the nation and implement religious equality to maintain the strength of the homeland eternally.” In 2010, a memorial, displaying the monk wreathed in flames, was installed on the very corner where he died a half century before. Prior to the statue, which sits in front of a bas-relief depicting the powerful action, American journalist Malcolm Browne’s photographs were the most accessible reminders of the event.

5.00From the moment we met the team, we knew we had chosen the right tour. Despite never having been on the back of scooters in Saigon before, we felt completely safe. The helmet instructions were clear, and we set off with confidence. All the food we experienced exceeded our expectations, making for an truly amazing evening. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys great food and fantastic company.

5.00The tour was absolutely wonderful! Riding the motorbike was not only fun but also felt very safe. Our driver was incredibly friendly and highly knowledgeable about Saigon’s local culture. The street food was delicious and gave us a great introduction to authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Overall, a fantastic experience!

5.00This was by far one of the best experiences we did in Vietnam! If you want to dine it at some of the best and most authentic food stalls, shops and markets while seeing the sights of Ho Chi Minh all from the back or a motorbike this is the only way to do it. The team spoke great English, made us laugh and surprised my sister with a birthday cake. If you miss this, you’re going to be sorry! These legends are all students, and work hard to make sure you have the ultimate experience. They deserve all the tips they got. Big shoutout to them, thanks so much Casey, Jerry, Khoa and Tang.

5.00Duy and Nhu were our 2 guides. A little apprehensive riding pillion passenger at first, these guys rode with us on the back in the heavy Saigon traffic with ease.We felt safe the entire trip. Amazing food, great conversation and both guides educated us both on their magical city. This is a must do trip!!!
