This is a part of West Java districs, Banten is new province in growing population and Baduy is one of the area hold by the government as the one unique tribe left. Originally called Kenekes people which was isolated in mid 1500s, since the era of Muslim or sultanate of Banten encouraged the tribe and the colonial era, people just keep their culture and outsider as guardian of the inner. The original of Baduy also called "Sunda wiwitan".
The highlight: in that tradition the people are not using sandal and the transportation, they walk as long as they need, house made by bamboo and wooden rope then no electricity. They are traditionally life without touch modernism, also the government concerns to this to keep it nature.
Fortunately that the people are keeping their culture and they want that the generation keep the culture itself.
During in Baduy we can explore the village and house also we get closer with them accompany the representative and guide.

Ivan, our tour guide and Riswan, driver were very helpful and entertaining as we drive three hours to our tour. They are friendly and polite. Riswan drove well and smooth. We appreciate him for looking after everyone's safety when driving. Ivan filled in info on the Baduy culture, lifestyle, and customs. We appreciated the wonderful time and experience!

Visiting Baduy Luar is a unique experience to see the simple life of the Baduy people close to nature. I have visited Baduy Luar few times and also stayed there for one night. To visit Baduy Luar, you can join a tour package as well. It takes few hours from Jakarta to go there. Here are some things you need to pay attention to when visiting Baduy Luar, including respecting the customs of the Baduy community, not carrying weapons, musical instruments, alcohol or drugs, not littering, etc. In Baduy Luar, there is no electricity or internet, bathing in the river and cooking in a traditional kitchen. Usually we will stay at a resident's house, one of them is Kampung Gajeboh. They also usually walk barefoot and especially for people of Baduy Dalam, they are not allowed to ride in vehicles at all and can only walk barefoot to go everywhere. As for the reference, Baduy people (sometimes spelled as Badui or Kanekes) are an indigenous Sundanese ethnic group native to the southeastern part of Banten, specifically Lebak Regency, Banten, Indonesia. As it has been the case for hundreds of years, the main livelihood of the Kanekes people is rice farming. Apart from that, they also earn extra income from selling the fruits they gather from the jungle, such as durian and tamarind-plum, as well as wild honey. This will be a great exprerience back to the nature.

Overall, I recommend this trip plan to trekking-lover, especially the solo traveller, since the traveller can be accompanied with the tour guide and indigenous guide. And more importantly, we can explore indigenous culture and enjoy the harmony of local community and nature conservation My tour guide Haidar is nice and patient. He helps me take a lot of photos to make my trip more enjoyable.

I finally got to visit the village of Badui, where I had a strong sense of unfinished business in Indonesia, where I spent four years four years ago. I love the hidden villages where the strange Sundanese people live, the clean and constantly updated living spaces that have inherited history, and the purity that lies in the simplicity. I was impressed.

This was truly an amazing "Quest" and I say that because you are going on a journey, whether or not you realize it. Baduy is in the jungle! So you'll need to trek through the jungle, going village to village, in the area that the tourists are allowed to go-- there is another area but you're not allowed in it if the Chief doesn't invite you. Along the way, you can guy things from the local merchants so it's a good time to get authentic Black Honey and Baduy Batik clothing. You'll ultimately land at two really beautiful locations that will let you see Baduy engineering at its finest and also if your body can take the weather and hike, you will get to the top of a mountain to reach the "hidden lake" where there is a peaceful resting spot at the water, the relax and catch a breeze. Now, if you did this tour, you should look for the version that allows you to see a very special show at the end of the hike, and end of the day. This one is beyond amazing and beautiful was you have have a unique show only for your party, with music, song and dance and if you may even be included in the show if you have the personality for it. If I were you, I'd call the tour owner and make sure that you have the right option for the tour to get that show because you'd be missing out on a truly unique experience you'll see nowhere else. If you're a true traveler, who likes to learn about cultures and people wherever you go, you definitely have to do this and eat the local cuisine while at it. I was exhausted at the end of the day, but 100% pleased and it was worth the money and the journey. Thank you to my guide, Saleh, the best guide around and to Ferdy for exposing this who experience to me. Call Ferdy and make sure you arrange this properly.

During the trip we saw exotic scenery, but after being in a very different village during the trip, we felt calm without the exhaust noise and concrete that squeezes in the city. At night, we think it's quite dark because there won't be any bright light from electricity. we experienced a special moment, accompanied only by the ancient and exotic civilization of this indigenous community. we could feel the serenity when we were in a village filled with craftsmen who were skilled at weaving, as if we were in the middle of a giant bamboo garden. Or you can frolic among the mossy rocks that emphasize the existence of the old village. Our guide as super, Driver excellent, Food is Ok.
