Award-Winning Sachsenhausen Memorial Tour – A Profound Journey Through History
Sachsenhausen was the first purpose-built concentration camp, designed as a center of terror, persecution, and systematic murder. Initially, it imprisoned those the Nazis deemed racially, socially, or politically inferior.
Travel through the town of Oranienburg and uncover how the local population both supported and benefited from its existence. Your expert, licensed guide will lead you through key sites, including the punishment cells, infirmary, barracks, gas chamber, and crematoria. Hear powerful stories of resilience, courage, and solidarity among inmates in the face of unimaginable horror.
The tour also includes a visit to the Inspectorate of Camps—an unassuming yet critical building from which the Nazis controlled the entire concentration camp system across Europe.
A €3 per person donation supports the site's maintenance, and preservation and future restoration of the Sachsenhausen Memorial.

Very troubled place with a cruel history, but also the most eye-opening glimpse into an extremely poignant moment of history.

This tour was both informative and genuinely interesting from start to finish. Our guide, Mikey, was very knowledgeable and attentive. He did a fantastic job bringing history to the present with clear explanations and engaging stories, making it easy to stay focused and involved throughout. What really stood out was his friendly and helpful attitude throughout the day—he was always happy to answer questions and make thoughtful recommendations for additional learning. Mikey also paid special attention to making sure our group was comfortable and safe on a very cold and icy day. I highly recommended this well-organized tour for anyone looking to learn and reflect on this important and historical site.

I really didn't know what to expect when my husband and I decided to book the Sachsenhausen tour on our recent trip to Berlin. I knew it wouldn't be an "enjoyable experience"--it is a concentration camp, after all. But what I saw and learnt on the day will definitely stay with me for life. I didn't take any photos, rather, I took everything in with all of my senses. I listened to our tour guide Jamie's every word. Really listened. Read as many of the information boards I could in the time we were given. Tried to envisage what it must have been like for the thousands of victims who endured cruelty, humiliation, and for many, death, within the high walls of the barren compound. I walked away, my heart sore and my mind muddled, but with more determination than ever to stand up and speak up for what is right and never, ever, allow those in power to inflict such atrocities on fellow humans again. Thank you, Jamie, for your guidance.
