If you wanna know how the locals of Comuna 13 live, this tour is for you. Nancy was amazing, she is born and raised in the neighborhood and even took us to her house and gave us some appetizers. The tour starts with a 15 minute talk about context and why this is a story of bravery and resilience. Then, she took us to see the locals play soccer, dance and a quick comedy show with rhymes with stunning views. The only thing I would recommend is to start and end the tour at the agreed time.

Franklin was an amazing tour guide. He grew up in Communa 13 so he could give us the entire history of the atrocities that happened there, and how the community was able to turn things around. He's also a singer, and I really enjoyed his impromptu performance at the end of the tour! Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Medellin!

Our guide Franklin was SO wonderful and the whole day was just spectacular! A lot to see and do here, so we even hung around after the tour to return to places we enjoyed on the tour. Highly recommend doing this tour to learn about the history of the area from a local guide. We did the 2pm tour and the food provided was lovely, just not a lot, so you will be hungry after ;-) Plenty of places to stop along the way for food and drink as well! Highlights were watching the freestylers battle on the streets and some of the local children breakdancing. And of course the local graffiti and art!

Highly recommend this tour if you want to learn something about Colombian gang history and how the graffiti portrays it. The street food is actually quite decent and the empanadas were super crispy and one of the best veg empanadas I’ve had in Medellin. The guide was super nice, though we did run a bit over time, with the tour being over 4 hours long in total.
