Only a few years ago, the Comuna 13 neighborhood was the most dangerous community in the city of Medellin but today it's the most colorful and vibrant communities in the city. After the government and private sector invested in social and youth programs the local residents and artists reclaimed the neighborhoods and contributed to the miraculous transformation which we see today, the streets filled with incredible street art, music, street performers, many suprises. A great opportunity to explore the lively streets in Comuna 13 while meeting local residents and artists, a unique cultural and memorable experience.

Comuna 13 Tour (Pazifistas)

The guides meets guests at the main entrance to the POBLADO metro station by the main ticket booth. Next, the guide takes guests on the metro to the cable cars for a ride up providing amazing panoramic views of Medellin. Afterwards, a short bus ride takes guests to the Comuna 13 neighborhood to explore all the street art while learning all about the troubled past and miraculous transformation of this colorful and vibrant community.

Nice tour of Comuna 13. I was (un)lucky enough to be in a small group. Unfortunately I had requested the guide in Spanish but they assembled the two available languages and, since I was in the minority, the tour was done in English. It was a little annoying. The friendly guide but I would have preferred more information about the place while he devoted himself to chatting with the two American tourists.

Pick up point was easy and convenient if you are staying in the Pablado area and they supply you with photos etc to make even more simple. First up the cable car ride. Don’t expect to get off because you are there for the views and what a view. Onto Comuna 13. It’s vibrant and colourful and full of energy. If you think the views are good from the cable car just wait till your sipping in a cool cerveza whilst looking out onto the views of Medellin. If you’re lucky enough to have Walter as a guide you’ll be entertained and informed as you go through the tour with his tales of Comuna 13 and his razor sharp wit !
Walter treated us like his friends, excellent service.

Excellent service! We really liked that Walter was very kind to us, he explains very clearly, he is pleasant and also funny, he made us feel confident to ask our doubts and he always answered us carefully, it seemed that we were talking to a friend with many years of friendship. We highly recommend it!

Great! Learning about the history behind was incredibly interesting. Everything now holds more value because of our newfound knowledge! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, making us feel safe throughout the tour. I highly recommend it!

Our guide, Cristian, was excellent. The service, history and information were excellent. I was answering our questions, doubting the issues. The knowledge of the neighborhood, the people and the history makes it even more interesting to really know the tourist origin of commune 13. Do not hesitate to do it.

We started with a scenic metro ride to the metrocable, which offered stunning views over comuna 13 as we glided above the neighborhood. After a short bus tour to the touristic center of the comuna 13 we could watch a breakdance performance and explore the street art. Our guide was phenomenal. Friendly, funny and very engaging. He shared stories about the transformation of the barrio and explained the deep meaning behind a lot of graffitis we stopped at. After visiting a local bar, our guide took us through a quieter area where we glimpsed the authentic daily life in the comuna. His personal anecdotes added a lot of connection to the experience. From start to finish, it was perfectly organized and genuinely fun. Don’t miss this tour, highly recommended!
