  We had a wonderful experience cooking with Wasantha. The visit to the market to select fruits and vegetables for preparation was really informative and fun (tuk tuk ride!). But the real treat was learning from Wasantha who has an inate sense of food and is a great teacher.

  Thought to be 12 th highest rated course of this kind in Indian Ocean region. Easy to see why. She takes great pride in her approach and involves everyone. We were a small group of British American German and Malaysian who got on great. Walked away with 20 recipes ! Great fun.

  The cooking class was a real highlight of the trip for us. You immediately notice that the cooking here is done with a lot of heart and passion. We were greeted very friendly and got to know traditional dishes step by step. Everything was calmly explained and you were allowed to help, cut, season and cook yourself. That wasn't just watching, it was really taking part. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. Especially nice was the family atmosphere, you feel like at home with friends in the kitchen. If you really want to experience the local cuisine, you should definitely do this cooking class. We would definitely come back. Absolute recommendation on Tripadvisor.

  We enjoyed the experience of going to the market, choosing ingredients and then the class. Wasantha, her daughter and boyfriend were all super friendly and we got lots of recipes afterwards. The other people in the class were also lovely and we had a bit of a laugh. We could probably have done with being more hands on and the noisy fan made it quite difficult to hear at times.

  The whole thing took about 4 hours and was from A-Z class. In the beginning we went to the local fruit and vegetable market in Galle and were able to select different ingredients for our curry. Afterwards we went to the fish market to buy more ingredients. Afterwards we cooked various curries together with Wasantha. We had someone in the group who couldn't eat onions and someone (me) who has a coconut milk allergy. This was no problem either, all wishes and intolerances were taken into consideration. The instructions of Wasnatha were very clear and the result was delicious. After the course we received the recipes for some different curries. I can only recommend this activity.

  Myself, my mum and Uncle went to Wasantha’s cooking class, the venue is lovely, Wasantha and her family are wonderful people. Going to the markets to choose our produce was such a great experience, the the cooking class with Wasantha and her many years of knowledge was just beyond our expectations, to say we enjoyed it, is an understatement, we will remember that experience forever.   Excellent journey through the secrets of Sri Lanka’s food. First stop at fish market, then at fruit and vegetable market with explanations of all types of fish, fruit and vegetables. Then cooking our groceries with explanations of all spices and cooking tips. Each fish, vegetable and fruit needs a different blend of spices and Wasantha guides you through.   An amazing experience from start to finish. The trip by tuk tuk to the market to buy the fresh ingredients was wonderful and we were treated to a thorough explanation of every vegetable at the market stall. We got to choose the vegetables for the curries. Back to the restaurant to learn how to cook them. Wasantha is a treasure and so happy to share her knowledge. All the explanations are clear and there’s some hands on opportunities to get involved with the cooking. And then you get to sit down and eat it all! Before you leave you are given lots of recipes sent electronically, all hand written. This is my favourite thing we’ve done in Sri Lanka so far and it’s so nice that it’s a family set up.
