As advertised, we only operate small-group, private, or customized tour options to give you the flexibility to choose and tailor the tour program that best suits your travel itinerary, or simply your boutique and tour style.
As experienced, certified guides, our commitment to and love of nature is the guiding principle to ensure that every visitor receives a memorable, educational, and professional tour with the quality you deserve and that we promote.
If you are not an extreme bird watcher, or just want to have a leisurely breakfast, we can always start the tour at 8:00 am, 9:00 am or even 10:00 am.
BEACH TIME NOTE: Upon advance request, additional beach time can be provided with pre-arranged return transportation after the tour. If you book the 12:30 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. tour, the beach time will be very limited, as the park beaches close at 3:00 p.m. (showers close at 3:30 p.m.). If you'd like to take a quick dip, please let us know before the tour starts.

The entry and use of single-use plastics (bags, straws, and disposable water or soda bottles) is prohibited in Manuel Antonio National Park and all other national parks in Costa Rica. Please note that you must bring your own reusable water bottle for the hike.
No food of any kind is permitted, including cookies, candy, energy bars, or gum. Visitors with special dietary or medical needs (children, pregnant women, or diabetics) may bring peeled and cut fruit or sandwiches in a Tupperware container.
You are not permitted to enter the national park with any type of alcoholic beverages, cocktails, coconut water (whole coconut), cigarettes, cigars, vaporizers, or any type of drugs.
While insect repellent and sunscreen are recommended in Manuel Antonio National Park, SPRAYS ARE NOW PROHIBITED, while lotions, wipes, and other non-aerosol forms of insect repellent and sunscreen are generally permitted
To protect the environment and wildlife, minimize animal stress, noise pollution, and ensure visitor safety, the use of beach umbrellas, beach chairs, hammocks, beach tents, and recreational or sporting equipment (bicycles, roller skates or skateboards, boogie boards, skimboards, surfboards, soccer balls, footballs, tennis or racquetball balls, frisbees or similar, drones, musical instruments, speakers, flashlights, laser pointers, lighters or matches, guns, spearguns, or any hunting and fishing equipment) is prohibited in Manuel Antonio National Park.
Manuel Antonio National Park is CLOSED on Tuesdays. Open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (beach areas and the cafeteria close at 3:00 p.m.). Admission is valid only once; you cannot re-enter if you leave the park. Facilities are available; those near the beach areas have changing rooms and showers for rinsing (soap and shampoo are not permitted).
It is recommended to wear closed shoes (tennis shoes or hiking boots) to participate in the tour. If you wish, bring sandals or flip-flops to wear on the beach.
Manuel Antonio National Park does not have an official parking lot, instead there are several private parking areas available for ₡5,000/$10 per day (CASH ONLY) We recommend and work with Gonzalo Montenegro (Chalo Parking)
Subject to favorable weather conditions; if canceled due to poor bad weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date or full refund
Please enjoy nature properly, do not touch or feed wild animals, stay on trails, read about poisonous snakes and poisonous trees located in the area, and do not collect shells, sand, or rocks.

Manuel Antonio National Park
We begin by briefly describing the facilities, trails, and beach areas we will walk and visit on our 3-hour guided tour. We will make recommendations depending on the season and type of group that will be attending the tour. As mentioned above, we will do the tour in the opposite direction (anti-clockwise) of the standard operators and guides, the idea is to walk with less people and noise, focus on what the tour is about, observe the local wildlife, learn about iconic tropical species and, if possible, take a great photo or video. The most common species are sloths (both species), monkeys, bats, agoutis, tree frogs, toucans, and even snakes.
Playa Espadilla Sur
Since we developed our tour in the opposite direction, this will be the first beach you will see, located at the end of the elevated boardwalk or Sendero Universal El Manglar. Playa Espadilla Sur waves can be very quiet and calm in the dry season (January to May), but they can be rugged and present a powerful "Backwash" on the steeper beach sandbars. Keep an eye out for sea turtle tracks on the beach, and if you're lucky, you may witness baby sea turtles emerge from their nests. There are showers to rinse off and bathrooms available for your use.

5.00We booked two tours with Manuel’s Tours - a night jungle tour and a tour of Manuel Antonio National Park. Both of the tours were incredible!! Manuel is extremely knowledgeable about the area and all of the local wildlife. He helped us spot dozens of species that would have otherwise been very difficult to spot and went above and beyond to make sure we got amazing photos and information about what we were seeing. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!!! If we could give more than 5 stars we would!!!

1.00The Tour Operator did not show for pick up and did not respond to communications at the day of service. We set up pick up time and location the day prior using WhatsApp on the day of service they did not respond or show up. I do not recommend, working with Viator for a refund.

5.00Put simply, you won’t find a better guide for a private tour of Manuel Antonio National Park than Manuel, a published photographer and guide with 25+ years of experience. Manuel knows the park comprehensively, nimbly adjusts to daily conditions to ensure you have the best experience, and will provide comprehensive details on the park’s ecology, wildlife, cultural influences and more based on your interests. Best of all: He is an AMAZING photographer, and will share photos and videos with you at the end of the tour. These will seriously wow your friends and family, and convey vivid details from your tour. Be sure to book your tour in advance of your trip, as Manuel is in high demand and books up quickly.

5.00Small group excursion made the experience more enjoyable. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and could spot we would have never seen by ourselves. The telescope they use to help you see made all the difference too. Even my not so excited to be there teenager was happy to see the animals. We ended up having great family time.

1.00DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR!! I should have listened to all the other negative reviews. The tour guide messaged and notified us a day prior to our tour only after we reached out, claiming they arranged to pick us up from our hotel at 7:15 am. The day of tour at 7:21 a.m., while we were packed and waiting, I got a message from Manuel telling me they couldn't do it and at the last minute and canceled on us. They were supposed to buy us the entrance tickets as well, which is included in the tour, but he told us we needed to buy our own tickets now. What was the point of providing them with our passport information!? Trust the negative reviews with this tour and save yourselves the trouble by booking with someone else!! We scrambled at the last minute and rebooked this tour with our hotel.

5.00Manuel was an amazing guide! He picked out animals we never even knew were there, set up the binoculars perfectly so everyone could see, and created a photo album for us of all the sights and animals we found. He was fantastic with our kids, very knowledgable, and gave us some really helpful tips for enjoying the rest of our time in Manuel Antonio. We highly recommend this tour, you will regret not booking it!

2.00We paid for a private customizable tour. I received confirmation messages from host and was told to meet in our hotel lobby at 7:15. They were late but there was no phone number provided - just the option to message the tour company. I messaged them and got no reply. When no one had shown by 7:45, I went to my Hotel staff to see if they could help. They ended up tracking down the company & they were told that they were running late and would pick us up at 8:00. At 8:15, someone finally showed up. The trip was completely disorganized and it was clear that they were scrambling to take care of us. Instead of adjusting our tour end time, they instead rushed us through the park. Our guide apparently had another tour, so he was sticking to the original schedule. Our guide, Wilbur, did a great job, I just wish we could have had the full time we paid for. The tour company failed in customer service - they did not reach out to tell us they would be late, didn't answer our messages, and did not reach out afterwards to apologize. The park is incredible but you really need an experienced guide with a scope to see the majority of wildlife. I highly recommend a private tour but suggest you book with a different company.

1.00Awful! Traveling with 2 children and they never showed up to pick us up at our hotel after paying in full. I called multiple times and sent messages without any response. Do not book with them! Trying to get a refund.

1.00Transportation never showed up, and we contacted the tour and they instructed us to get ourselves to the park but would still do the tour. Upon arrival to the park, there was no one from Manuel’s Tours but there were other people who booked the exact same tour and also got stood up. It took three phone calls to the tour company to even get a refund. Would not reccommend at all. Our kids ages 10, 13 and 14 were severely disappointed.
