Manuel Antonio National Park
Your day begins at the park entrance, or with optional pickup at selected locations. After you purchase Manuel Antonio National Park entrance tickets (at your own expense), you’ll continue into the nature reserve with a naturalist guide. Exploring this wildlife hotspot with a naturalist makes the most of every minute, as their trained eyes quickly spot animals such as monkeys, sloths, toucans, and more. And, this tour’s small-group format means more personalized attention from the guide. You can also use the group’s spotting scope to observe wildlife and take photos. A flexible itinerary, meanwhile, is tailored to guest preferences, whether you’re all about the jungle or interested in a beach walk. In between stops enjoy provided snacks, as well as the climate-controlled comfort of a tour vehicle for pickup and drop off. While this walking nature tour concludes at the park entrance, you’ll also have the option to stay inside the park. The tour guides have a Jade Tours uniform

We had a fun time with our tour guide, Guillermo. He spotted many animals we would never have seen. We viewed them through his telescope, and then he took pictures that he shared with us at the end. Very friendly and informative. The park facilities (bathroom, cafeteria) are subpar and disappointing. Eat before 10am or you'll be waiting in line for food.

Elliott was a fantastic guide. He had a vast knowledge of the park, and demonstrated a true passion for nature. He made our visit truly memorable.

Our tour guide, Elias, did a good job navigating a very busy day at the park with a full group of 10 people. Despite it being crowded he was able to show us many species through the scope that we would not have seen on our own and took us around the main trail. He had a lot of patience with the kids on our tour. It was great that he shared all the scope photos with us immediately after. We recommend doing a tour to get yourself oriented and the coming back a second day to walk around yourself and explore the other trails.

The park is very busy, but there is still plenty of wildlife to see. My only issues were with the logistics and details of the booking. The booking indicated a 7am start and approximately 3-4 hours duration; in reality we waited for some other people on the tour and did not actually get into the park until 8:20am, and the tour concluded at 10:30am, about 1/2 the duration expected but not 1/2 the cost. If you choose to meet the guides at the park entrance (rather than pickup), it was a little unclear where exactly to meet and who to look for. It gets a bit chaotic there with crowds of people and equal crowds of guides. Here you are looking for "Jade Tours" and guides with a logo of a hanging sloth on their shirts. They set up at some picnic tables in front of a convenience store. Again, it says 7am meet, but didn't get in line to the park until well after 8am. The park tour was fine, albeit much shorter than advertised. Some guides in the group had better spotting scopes than others. If you aren't carrying a fairly long lens, alot of wildlife is pretty far away. We didn't see any monkeys in the park, and if that is the case for you, too - just walk along the alley path between the park entrance and the beachfront in the afternoon and there are plenty of monkeys up-close. Ideally, you split off of the tour at the end and spend time on the beach inside the park. It was very nice, and nearly empty.

Kenneth was awesome! There was a group of 5 of us. He asked what we wanted to see and before the tours end he made sure I got to see my Agouti! The trek itself is easy but to spot the wildlife you definitely need a guide. Make sure you get your admission ticket in advance, they sell out (in the dry season at least).
