Quang Tri Citadel
- 07h30: Our guide and car will pick you up at your hotel in Hue central, then ready to start the DMZ Tour Hue. Visiting places: - Horror Highway: the horrible carnage on Vietnam Highway 1. Thousands of civilians, mostly the elders, women, children, and scores of soldiers were killed by artillery and infantry weapons in hours of shooting. - Long Hung Church: one of the very few existing buildings remains in Quang Tri town during “Fire Summer” or Eastern Offensive in 1972. It is a National Relic in the town of Quang Tri Vietnam – BA5453. - Quang Tri Ancient Citadel: is seen as an eye-witness of fierce battles during the anti-American resistance war in 1972. During the 81-day fighting, the citadel was almost destroyed by thousands of tons of bombs released by the US army. Nowadays, the citadel becomes a place to mark immortal victories of the Vietnamese army and people and to educate youths about the nation’s revolutionary tradition and its patriotism.
Khe Sanh Combat Base
- Continue the journey, we stop to visit: - Dakrong Bridge: the bridge was considered the beginning of the Ho Chi Minh Trail network, and during many years of Vietnam War, this access point was hotly contested. The Dakrong Bridge fell many times. Now it’s a grand suspension bridge, a proud thumbed nose as if to say, “You can’t knock down my bridge anymore.” - On the way, tourists also have chances to meet Paco minority village. - Ta Con Airport: now is the Khe Sanh Combat Base Museum, contains a boneyard of several captured U.S. tanks and aircraft destroyed during the Battle of Khe Sanh. According to the official accounts provided by the museum, 197 U.S. planes were shot down or captured during the 170-day battle. - Free snacks. Enjoy the local Khe Sanh coffee (own expense).

Bear in mind this is a long but enjoyable day. A lot of ground is covered but if you are into recent Vietnamese history this trip ticks all the boxes as regards the DMZ. Visited four sites including the old Khe Sanh airstrip and the Vinh Moc tunnels which are very extensive and more accessable and less claustrophobic than the ones outside HCMC. Thaun our guide was excellent explaining the history of the DMZ and its role in recent wars. She was also a great tunnel guide ! We only stopped, slowed down really, at the ruins of the Catholic church. A 5 minute stop to take a few photos would have been welcomed.

Hoa is a knowledgeable guide who speaks English well. Did the full day tour which typically lasts till 8:00pm. Had 4 folks on the tour that booked a bus for 7pm that caused some stress. Left the tour with a better understanding of what transpired in that area than a couple of books that I read.

Very informative and well organized trip. Many travel kilometers and no spectacular sights, but for those interested in the history of the war in Vietnam, a really beautiful day. Especially the informative sessions during the bus ride, interspersed with the well-known 60s ‘Vietnam’ music, (The Doors, Creedence C.R. etc) made it a special experience. Khe Sanh combat base, Quan Tri citadel and memorial, the DMZen finally the tunnels of Vinh Moc, with a nice lunch in between, for us a very successful (long) day

The whole tour is worthy because the distances are long, so you can take advantage of that by learning from the tour guide. Linh was awesome, she has a lot of knowledge and a great attitute. Always willing to answer any question. The places are a must go when you come around the area.

As a retired US History teacher, I really appreciated the mini-lectures tour guide gave in very good English about the history of the IndoChina Wars. Caves were excellent too.

Went on the full day DMZ tour and it was so worth it! The day is long as many of the sites are far from each other, but you get plenty of rest as well as the tour guide, Hoa, giving a very concise overview of the Vietnam War and in depth background info about it. I feel like I learned so much more about the war rather than the basics. Hoa kept it very interesting and engaging as well as organized. The tunnels were the highlight of the trip as well as seeing the former marine base. I would definitely recommend this company if wanting to do the DMZ day tour!

This was an amazing full day tour to visit and explore the main locations relevant to the DMZ zone. Thuan our guide explained the relevant history of the South and North and the many countries involved in relation to the establishment of the zone and how it became a key area in relation to the indochina wars. A visit to the main US airbase located in the zone was fascinating. Just travelling across the mejestic mountains in that region with some stops for coffee and lunch was itself a great experience as well.
