We’ll take you away from the guidebooks to our favourite local haunts. We’ll take you behind the scenes and introduce you to the families keeping Dutch food traditions alive and we’ll explore architecture and little-known historical sites along the way, satisfying the most curious of visitors. Our guides love to tell you their own Amsterdam stories, enhancing your experience while you eat, drink and walk (and boat!) along our canals with friends. Let’s dig into Amsterdam together and explore this historic city in all its glory.
Our 4-hour Amsterdam Food & Canals Tour is a guided walk through the unique cultural and historical sights of Amsterdam; it’s an hour-long, private boat trip through Amsterdam’s world heritage canals; and it’s a substantial meal in the form of a dozen delicious Dutch tastings from plenty of authentic foodie stops along the way – all in one!

The Jordaan
Explore the Jordaan neighborhood, the old workers area, created in the 17th century, for the fast growth of the city. It quickly became home to boat constructors, sailors, bricklayers and many refugees from other European countries coming to Amsterdam. Jordaan was in those times a slum, but nowadays it is a dynamic lively artistic neighborhood.

5.00The tour was great! Gerard was knowledgeable, friendly and very personable. All of the foods stops were well executed and very tasty! The canal boat was in pristine condition. The canal ride was smooth sailing. Definitely recommend a tour with Eating Europe and if in Amsterdam with Gerard.

5.00Our tour started with apple pie, ended with Dutch croquettes, and was filled with good food and company in between. Our tour guide, Elena, was very sweet and knowledgeable. She shared a lot of history about Dutch food and some of the Jordan District in Amsterdam. She engaged everyone in the group and created situations in which we engaged with each other across the group. This was very useful to us as the canal cruise is in pretty tight quarters. I didn’t love all the food, but I didn’t dislike any of it. That’s just how Dutch food is; good but not great. But, as a tour, I’d recommend this one, especially if Elena is your guide.

5.00Our guide was great and showed up early to the meeting point. The food stops were all tasty treats complemented by history, local culture and some personal stories. The cruise was fun, scenic, and also accompanied by food and drinks.

5.00Really wonderful experience walking through the beautiful neighborhoods of Jordan with Alda! Such delicious food and really cool spaces. Loved talking to the proprietors, too, they were obviously so proud of their establishments. Absolutely recommend this tour!

5.00Relaxing stroll through one of the prettiest neighborhoods in Amsterdam with tastings of regional delicacies at local spots. An incredible way to spend the afternoon in Amsterdam, especially if you are looking for something chill to do that is not in the typical “touristy” area. Gerard l our guide was AMAZING. A lifelong-local, Gerard really added to the experience by adding personal anecdotes and taking time to answer questions throughout. Be sure to dress for the weather and wear good walking shoes.
10/10 Highly Recommend!

5.00I highly recommend this food tour for anyone looking to visit Amsterdam. First, the food was delicious, and we were stuffed by the end. Second, our guide Jacob was friendly, personable and knowledgeable. Lastly, the boat portion of the tour was a great bonus, as we only had a short time to visit the city and were able to see the city from the water as well. 10/10!
