The Town of Hum

During our tour we will visit 3 famous Istrian villages where we will taste local liquors, wines, cheeses, truffle products, and marmalades. Hum, the smallest town in the world, is located in the heart of Istria that claims only 20 inhabitants. Your visit to Hum will be like a beautiful fairy tale of small Istrian towns. This hidden, picturesque region of Istria is extremely friendly to all visitors who come to marvel in the sights the town has to offer. According to local legend, Hum was built with the stones left over when giants were building towns in the Mirna River valley, an area in central Istria that includes wonderful mountain towns such as Motovun, Roč, and Bale. Apart from being famous for being the smallest town in the world, Hum recently became popular for biska, a spiced brandy made with mistletoe according to an old Hum recipe.

Excellent tour and guide ( Dejan). Picked us up right in front of our hotel. Tour included stops in Piran and Motovun with an excellent lunch in Motovun. Stopped at a truffle shop, saw where sea salt was mined, walked through the old parts of Piran and Motovun. Drove through some beautiful parts of the Istria peninsula. Dejan gave us lots of insights and local history about the area. Would definitely recommend.

Dean took us to Hum, Motovun, and Groznjan in Croatia. His lively personality and wonderful historical and cultural information made the trip a delight for me, my wife, and our two teenage daughters! The towns also were beautiful and tastings and lunch (paid for separately) were delicious. Thank you Dean!!

We are independent travellers who found Koper Trips online when looking for day trips out of Trieste where we spent 3 nights. After several emails back and forth, we decided that the best plan for us was to book both the Flavours of Istria tour and the Piran & Panoramic Slovenia tour. As things turned out, we saw only Koper, Slovenia, at the end of our day, but that was not a problem for us because the rest of the day was filled with beauty, good conversation with Dejan, delicious food, and lots of great wine! In Croatia, we picked up an additional guest in Rovinj before heading to Hum, Kotle, Motovun, and lunch along Limski Fjord. After returning our other guest to her lodging in Rovinj, we went to Koper where Dejan showed us the office, gave us a lovely wine tasting, and walked us through the pretty Tito Square. The day was fabulous, and we all want to return to this area! Dejan picked us up at 8 AM at our hotel in Trieste and returned us there almost 12 hours later. We are very pleased with Koper Trips!

Tour was not as advertised. Only one of 3 listed stops was actually visited. Tastings involved visiting commercial shops that had samples of olive oil, truffles and the like. There was no formal meal provided or even offered. Wine tasting was again at commercial establishments. The last stop was at a winery where we were charged to taste wines. The scenery in Istria is beautiful, but I do not believe we received the value provided in the pre-tour description of what the tour would involve. A disappointment.

Dejan was great, it was a really fun day riding around Croatia with him and we loved the restaurant where we ate lunch -- the steak with truffles was fantastic! The local olive oil was also great, and the country was beautiful.
