Let me start off by saying our tour guide, Kaku, and the bus driver made this trip awesome! First, the castle was a great experience and this is from someone who has toured castles all over Japan and England. This was one of the coolest I have visited and the food stalls were great, if priced a bit on the "touristy" side. My understanding is we got lucky with the gas exposure to go all the way to the top of the volcano, but the drive and the views leading up to the volcano were stunning!! And the view from the top... let me just say our pictures and videos would never do it justice! It was hot and sunny for us, so be sure to bring sunscreen and all the things to keep you safe! The tour guide, Kaku, had amazing English and although he apologized for it, he was very good at switching between Chinese and English as the day progressed. He was very funny and engaging and knowledgeable about the area. He gave us several recommendations for eating establishments and future tours. The only drawback to the trip were some of the other passengers who would rudely run off the bus the second we stopped and then inevitably be the ones who were missing the time hack to be back on the bus. Please don't be those guys.... Oh! On the stop on the grassy plains, ensure you visit ALL the spots before you decide what souvenirs to buy. I ended up LOVING the very last store in the line but had already bought so-so gifts from the first store. :D Also, I didn't see this on other reviews, but wanted to say there was a single usb charging port per row of seats. Over all, this truly was a once in a lifetime experience!

Mt Aso volcano is beautiful. Kumamoto Castle was nice from the outside, and you can see the effects of earthquake on the structures, but inside it was not preserved like a castle, it's just a museum inside. Make sure to walk on the caldera's grass land, the view is gorgeous. My guide Sun is kind, personable, gave a lot of good tips, and has very good multi language skills.

Molly was friendly and knowledgeable. I liked the variety of this tour. I’m glad that the volcano did not erupt. That would have been a bummer.
