Hiking in Tirana, in one of the most picturesque areas where the deep blue of the lake is mixed with the grey of the rocks and green of the Flora around the area. Located around 15 Kilometres from Tirana, this artificial Lake is one of the main suppliers of drinkable water in Tirana. With a spectacular surrounding arena, the terrain is compounded also by 4 areas of fauna and vegetation.

The hike around lake Bovilla and Gamti mountain is divided into two main parts. The first part starting from the lake is characterized by a slow, low gradient ascending. For the hikers with less experience and not in the best fitness conditions usually, the journey ends before getting to the peak of Gamti. Continuing to the peak the trail will get quite steep and narrow, but the view totally worthy while reaching the top.

1.00Do not waste money or time coming to Albania. First Tirana is a dirty crowded city and the drivers are dangerous. There is nothing worth seeing. I’ve been to over 100 countries in the world. The sites to see are worthless. No wow moments just aggregation. The woman are friendly but the men- yikes! If you’re just counting countries give yourself 1 day and get out. If you are a vegetarian or pescatarian forget it. Also often things they state are worth visiting are not open even though the internet says it is. Pathetic. Albania is NOT WORTH A VISIT.

5.00The hike to Lake Bovilla was straightforward and enjoyable, and Daniel (my guide) knew all the best angles to take photos from the viewpoint. We went in the winter but the panoramic views were still super beautiful. It’s a short and enjoyable day trip from Tirana - 100% would recommend this gem!

5.00We had Josef as our guide and he was so helpful to us and the other couple on the tour. He knew the area well and gave us lots of advice as it was our first time in Albania. The lake and mountains are stunning and Josef kindly took pictures for us too.
