Visiting local homes and learning about the guinea pig breeding and corn beer fermentation process is a great introduction to local Andean culture. This activity consists in visiting Lamay, a traditional and not touristic village in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, meet enthusiastic and friendly local people and learn about their lifestyle and traditional business Arriving at La Base Lamay, we will have a brief interpretation of the local culture and activities in the village. Then we will walk through the streets and start with the visit of the Lamay church, one of the oldest temples in the Cusco region dated from the 17th century. Then we will walk to the guinea pig sheds, and discover how a traditional activity has been converted into a local business model. Finally, we will go to the ¨Chicheria¨ or Corn beer brewery, we were local people meet to make a break in between working labour. We will learn about the process of making chicha and have a good time with the local people. After this spontaneous experience, we will walk back to La Base Lamay for a coffee or a soft drink. Finally return to your hotel or your next destination.
