Walk through the community
Today we will meet in Lamay, a small and quiet town of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. After a coffee and load our water bottles at La Base Lamay, we will go out walking along a beautiful path from the town square, towards to the Chuquibamba community. Arriving in the community, we will enter a pedestrian path surrounded by a native forest, which climbs up the Chuquibambilla ravine, to the waterfalls of Sirenachayoc. Legend has it that whoever bathes at the foot of the waterfall, in the mornings before the sun rises, it will heal from all your ills. After a while of meditation and recharging energies, we will return to Lamay by the same path. We will visit the Hacienda house, dating from the 17th century; is beautiful and is in the process of restoration. The Chuquibambilla stream is populated with plants and native trees, in addition to eucalyptus. At La Base Lamay, we are promoting reforestation with native species, to aid in water retention, control erosion, improve soil fertility, and attract wildlife species wild, which are home to these species.
