The team we met was genuinely warm and friendly, which made us feel welcome from the start. However, we felt that the tour itself didn’t quite live up to the NZD $93 per person price—it was rather basic and lacked the depth or uniqueness we were hoping for. That said, watching the dogs expertly herd the sheep was truly impressive and definitely the highlight of our visit. We were also lucky enough to catch a fleeting rainbow on that rainy day, which added a touch of magic to the experience. Without those moments, our overall impression might have been less favorable.
After seeing so many sheep farms, time to experience it.

After spending weeks driving past sheep on the highways, it was time to experience the real thing. This experience will probably last in my memory long after the scenery fades. Cody picked us up from city “center.” Unlike touristic big bus events, this experience resembled having a friend of a friend who happens to work on a sheep farm. Not only did I learn about farm life, the economics of a sheep farm, Merino wool but experienced the eerily quiet sheep stables. Their immobile prey response must be witnessed rather than described and read about. The adorable herding dogs also enthusiastically show off their craft.
