Maun

DAY 1 Maun On your arrival in Maun airport (Botswana), you will be met by your safari guide with a billboard written “Outdoor African Tour Safari”, then followed by safari briefing. After the briefing, you’ll go to local shops to buy your necessities. You will stay overnight in a luxury base camp in Maun. ​

Okavango Delta

At the delta, you will transfer your equipment to mokoro and cruise along the narrow papyrus-lines channels of the mighty Okavango Delta. You will spend one day exploring this beautiful area on mokoro excursions and taking guided walks on this island and floodplains of the Okavango.

Maun

Today, you will retrace your route back to Maun. You will have an option of taking a scenic flight over the delta. The 45 minutes scenic flight costs 200 USD per person, minimum 3 guests to guarantee the flight. This magical experience provides another perspective of the Okavango Delta’s unique water system. The scenic flights are at your own expense.

Moremi Game Reserve

From Maun, you will drive through to Moremi Game Reserve, a land of swamp and dry areas. These two days will be spent searching for the variety of wildlife and birds that this area is renowned for while absorbing the sounds and beauty of this region. You will enjoy game drives in the early morning as the sun rises and in the late afternoon as the sun sets. After your morning game drive, you will return to camp for lunch and rest while waiting for your late afternoon game drive

Moremi Game Reserve

This gem of a National Park has garnered a number of important distinctions. In 2008, it was voted the ‘best game reserve in Africa’ by the prestigious African Travel and Tourism Association at South Africa’s premier tourism fair, Indaba. It is the first reserve in Africa that was established by local residents. Concerned about the rapid depletion of wildlife in their ancestral lands – due to uncontrolled hunting and cattle encroachment – the Batawana people of Ngamiland, under the leadership of the deceased Chief Moremi III’s wife, Mrs. Moremi, took the bold initiative to proclaim Moremi a game reserve in 1963. It is the only officially protected area of the Okavango Delta, and as such holds tremendous scientific, environmental and conservation importance. And, undoubtedly, Moremi ranks as one of the most beautiful reserves in Africa, possibly in the world.

On this day as the sun rises, you will break your camp and have a long game drive to Savuti. As you continue your search for wildlife, you will visit the drier region of Savuti. Savuti is much known for its predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah, and even African wild dogs. The Savuti channel started flowing again after being dry for the last 30 years. The emergence of water changed the landscape as well as accommodating different species which historically have not been able to survive in the rather arid plains of Savuti. This exciting event has allowed large breeding herds of elephants as well as buffalo to visit the area.

Continue to explore this area of its wildlife, topography and vegetation. The area is also boastful of the ancient rock paintings After your game drives, enjoy a break over lunch and prepare for an afternoon game drive

On this day you will have an early morning Game drive as you go to your next destination, Chobe National Park. During the rainy season the water transforms the Savuti Marsh and Mababe Depression into wetlands, attracting literally hundreds of thousands of birds and beasts. You can spot herds of buffalo, a pride of lions, a pack of wild dogs, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, impala, sable, tssessebe, wildebeest and many wild birds. You will have your packed lunch en-route

Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park will be your next destination. Chobe National Park covers about 11 700 square kilometers of the Northern Kalahari, much of its impenetrable thorn bush growing on deep sand, it has the highest concentration of elephants than anywhere in the world.

Chobe National Park

The Chobe River is the main source of water for the park and comprises of mopane woodland, floodplains, grasslands and combretum offering diversity in its ecosystem. It has one of the largest concentrations of African elephants. General game viewing and birdlife are superb all year around with the elephant, buffalo and zebra masses being seasonally migratory based on accessibility to water and food. You will have a late afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe River that will last up to 1700hrs and then head back to your camp for dinner.

Victoria Falls

Your next destination is the Victoria Falls which is located on the Zambezi River, the fourth largest river in Africa, which is also defining the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Victoria Falls is the only waterfall in the world with a length of more than a kilometer and a height of more than hundred meters. It is also considered to be the largest fall in the world. The noise of Victoria Falls can be heard from a distance of 40 kilometers, while the spray and mist from the falling water is rising to a height of over 400 meters and can be seen from a distance of 50 kilometers. No wonder that the local tribes used to call the waterfall Mosi-o-Tunya “The smoke that thunders”. Scottish missionary and famous Victoria Falls is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the citizens of both Zambia and Zimbabwe no longer have fear of the “the smoke that thunders”, and are successfully developing the tourism on both sides of the river. Wake up early for a hearty breakfast in the lodge and continue to do more activities in Victoria falls. The guides will then say their goodbyes around 1000hrs when the Safari ends
