Led by a local Cardiffian, this day-trip allows you to see the best bits of Cardiff, discover its history, and hear what it is like to live in the city. Best of all, because our guides are locals, they know all the best places to eat, drink and explore that are often away from the usual tourist spots.

While this tour is usually only available for groups up to 3 people, we are able to offer tours for larger groups of up to 30 (please contact us for more details). This means that should you want to explore with a group of friends, or a college or university group, you can knowing that you will get exactly the same amazing tour.

Cardiff Castle

Cardiff Castle started life as a Roman Fort, evidence of which is still visible today. Indeed the city of Cardiff gets its name from the old Roman fort, as Cardiff or the Welsh version Caerdydd translates into English as "Fort on the river Taff". Developed by the Normans the castle has seen many changes and was once used as a royal prison. Developed further by various English marcher Lords, the castle fell into ruin in the 16th century. Taken over by the Marquis' of Bute in the 17th Century, it wasn't until the 3rd Marquis that the current version of Cardiff Castle came into being. Described as a victorian escapist dream, it is a stunning former stately home and Welsh national treasure. Whilst here your guide will show you around the castle, including its most interesting historical features such as a million-pound ceiling, the Second World War Tunnels, and the Museum of Welsh Soldering. Finally, you will be able to climb the castle's keep and see the stunning views of Cardiff.

What a lovely experience! Dewi was a wonderful guide! He’s very knowledgeable of the area and its history. Dewi is also very entertaining. He spent a lot of time with us and gave us options to make the experience our own. He learned our son was a Dr. Who fan so he made sure to point out filming locations along the way. At the end of our time with Dewi, we felt we had made a new friend.

Dai is really amazing and we had a wonderful time! The tour was exceptuobal as we learnt a lot of Cardiff history, and we are sure we wouldnt know that had we chose to go on our own unattended!

Oh, our absolutely goodness!!! What an AMAZING day touring with Dewi!!! He was prompt on pickup, took us EVERYWHERE… was a wealth of knowledge, funny, accommodating, and so incredibly nice!!! If he didn’t know the exact answer to a question, he immediately referenced if on his smart phone!!! We ABSOLUTELY loved our time with him!!! We highly recommend this tour… ours was a FULL day…. David (Dewi) was very personable and entertaining. He shared a wealth of knowledge re the history, culture, and people of Cardiff and Wales. We enjoyed the entire tour and learned so much. We would recommend him to any of our friends who follow in our footsteps.
