  My husband and I are so glad we booked our guide in advance for our circuit 3 tour. I decided to plan our trip myself and then became nervous about the details of our Machu Picchu trip. As soon as I booked the guide, I was contacted about my MP tickets for the entry time and circuit and the hotel. We stayed in aguas calientes. Gregory suggested a pickup time at our hotel and we went together to buy the bus tickets and lined up at the appropriate time. He recommended we sit on the driver's side of the bus for the best views. As soon as we arrived at MP he told us we were going to take our time and enjoy our visit. This put me at ease about keeping up. He brought a book with diagrams, photos, etc that enhanced his descriptions. He pointed out construction details we definitely would not have seen on our own. I truly think a visit without a guide would have been disappointing when you realized you don't understand the vastness of MP. Gregory explained the water systems, the purposes of the structures, the built-in symbols and more that we would have missed. The site is meant to be seen with a guide. They're is very little signage. I think we even explored more areas than we might have realized we had access to by having a guide. Gregory definitely helped us get the most out of our trip. He was very patient with this 65 year old woman when she needed a break from climbing stairs occasionally. He was an expert at photos. We both appreciated Gregory sharing his Inka ancestry and background with us. We spoke very little Spanish so we were glad he spoke English well. He lives in Aguas calientes and gave us additional local recommendations. I think hiring our guide Gregory was one of our best decisions and worth every soles.

  Excellent tour guide. Very helpful. We traveled with 2 small kids and the guide was very considerate of their abilities and took care to include them. He is very knowledgeable of the area and provided an exceptional overview of Machu Picchu.
