We were really looking forward to this experience, but unfortunately it didn’t quite live up to expectations—especially considering the price. Due to some traffic, we arrived just a couple of minutes after the cacao grove portion had started. Instead of letting us catch up with the group (even though we had informed them of the traffic/running late), we were told we’d have to wait until the chocolate-making portion began, which was really disappointing. Touring the cacao groves was one of the main reasons we booked this experience. That said, the staff member who led the chocolate-making session was wonderful—engaging, informative, and fun. That part of the experience was the highlight for sure. The included lunch was just okay. The flavors were fine, but nothing particularly memorable, and the ice cream we were excited to try was so frozen solid it took a while to become edible. Overall, it’s a beautiful setting and a great concept, but the execution—especially around flexibility and hospitality—missed the mark for us. We probably wouldn’t recommend this tour at this price point.

5 Stars – A Sweet and Satisfying Experience at Project Chocolate! Project Chocolate is a truly impressive and hands-on experience that blends education, sustainability, and indulgence. The tour walked us through the full journey of organically grown cocoa — from seed to table — and gave us a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship behind chocolate making. The highlight? We got to make our own chocolate bars from scratch! Be warned: it’s a real workout — you actually grind your own cocoa using traditional methods. It’s fun, messy, and completely worth it. The experience ended with a delicious locally inspired lunch, rounding out a day that was as rich and rewarding as the chocolate itself. This project is a must-visit for food lovers, eco-conscious travelers, and anyone curious about how chocolate really comes to life. Highly recommend!

Really enjoyable experience - absolutely loved it. Was so good to see the process from pod to chocolate bar. Would definitely recommend it. We stayed at Sandals which was a long way from the plantation but well worth the visit. The little humming bird houses were so cute.

The whole experience was amazing. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, funny and friendly. The walk through the garden was beautiful and we got to taste all sorts of delicious plants. The chocolate making was lots of work, but a fun insight into the history of chocolate. Also if you are a milk chocolate lover like my partner, be aware you are going to be making dark chocolate. 10 out of 10 would recommend. Even if you don’t like dark chocolate, the whole experience is a ton of fun.
