  Excellent attention and management of Genesis of Scuba Caribe. It stirred us up like meeting my brother-in-law who was in Punta Cana and us in Bayahibe on the same Catamaran to celebrate a beautiful and unforgettable birthday as a family. The impeccable excursion and the dream island!

  We enjoyed this day-long excursion to Soana Island during our week-long stay at the Secrets La Romana Resort. Pick-up from the hotel was as advertised at 9:15am and after a short ride we arrived at the Bayahibe beach area where the boats load. There were a total of 8 of us from Bayahibe area hotels and it soon became clear that we would be joining with other groups for the day. Our group leader provided our Soana Island Park wristbands and he also tied on a piece of red yarn which identified us to him. Other groups had different colored yarn to identify themselves. Communications was a bit of a challenge as our primary language is English but Spanish was the language being spoken. Let’s just say that by the end of the excursion we understood what was going on! It just happened that the day we booked was a Dominican Republic religious national holiday, so there were many local residents having a great time on their day off with us. We boarded a smaller boat from the surf line, which took us out to the catamaran which took us down to Soana. The party atmosphere started immediately upon departure, with rum & cokes, music and dancing in full swing by 10:00am. We stopped for about 45 minutes at the advertised ‘swimming hole’ before proceeding to the Soana Island Beach, arriving there about 12:45pm. We again had to transfer from the catamaran to a smaller boat in order to reach the shore. The beach was absolutely stunning! Our group leader organized chairs for us and he stayed nearby. A very authentic Dominican lunch was served at 1:00pm, which offered pasta salad, a cole slaw salad, fresh fruit, chicken, pork chops, rice & beans, a vegetarian pasta stew and bread. Soft drinks, rum & beer were available. We swam and sunned until our departure at 3:15pm. We took a speed boat directly back to Bayahibe. More rum & cokes were supplied along with frequent saltwater facials from the spray as we raced back north. Our shuttle van was waiting us at the Bayahibe beach and we were back at the resort exactly at 4:30pm as advertised. The only suggestion I could make would be that printed details in English of what to expect for the day could avoid confusion and anxiety, given the very limited English being spoken throughout the day. Some in our group were concerned in the morning as the level of organization at the beach was not what I would call ‘highly-structured’, but everything did work out fine. The value for what we paid was excellent.

  The pick up transportation was on time and crew ensured we got onto the right boat and then off and onto the right transportation back to our hotel The staff/crew on the boat were friendly and the lunch was good!

  We loved going to Saona with Katya, our tour guide. Saona island was absolutely amazing. I loved the organization of the tour, felt like they really think about the guests’ comfort.

  Overall tour experience was great! The place is beautiful, both the island and the stop at the natural pools. The crew was really friendly and going out of their way to make it a nice experience.

  It is the same activity that hundreds of people do, all at different prices. Hiring her on the spot would have paid $20/30 less. The worst part was the total disorganization, we left an hour and a half late.

  I did this excursion years ago with family. And it was a great day. This time, we stop in shallow waters so no fish , star fish. The transfers from boat to boat was a night mare to get to the island. Only rum with coke /sprite no ice was gross. The lunch was terrible. Flies everywhere. Still no ice on the island. No beer Broken chairs everywhere. Boat ride back was nice but still no proper drinks. Trying to get on the other boat to get back to shore was scary. 2 people actually fell. Been on many viator excursions on other islands and this was the most disappointing. Too many boats , too many people to enjoy the day on the island. Need to provide ice for drinks, offer diet pop and cold beers
