  Overall tour experience was great! The place is beautiful, both the island and the stop at the natural pools. The crew was really friendly and going out of their way to make it a nice experience.

• Very spectacular place, a bad experience

  It is the same activity that hundreds of people do, all at different prices. Hiring her on the spot would have paid $20/30 less. The worst part was the total disorganization, we left an hour and a half late.

  I did this excursion years ago with family. And it was a great day. This time, we stop in shallow waters so no fish , star fish. The transfers from boat to boat was a night mare to get to the island. Only rum with coke /sprite no ice was gross. The lunch was terrible. Flies everywhere. Still no ice on the island. No beer Broken chairs everywhere. Boat ride back was nice but still no proper drinks. Trying to get on the other boat to get back to shore was scary. 2 people actually fell. Been on many viator excursions on other islands and this was the most disappointing. Too many boats , too many people to enjoy the day on the island. Need to provide ice for drinks, offer diet pop and cold beers

  We were told we would be picked up in the lobby of our hotel. By chance my husband went outside the gate because the transport was late, they were about to leave and consider us a no show. We then arrived at the beach to board the boat, we had to wait over an hour to get on a boat, meanwhile watching hundreds of others board boats. We took the speed boat first to the natural swimming pool, we were offered only 3 choices of drinks rum, coke and sprite. No water and no beer. We then took the boat to Soanoa. When we arrived thankfully we were offered water at that time (3.5 hours after pick up) There was again no beer, beer was only available when lunch was served. Lunch was ok, Salads were not cold and hot food was not hot. (not for picky eaters but my son ate some bread) Ran out of beer during lunch (I don't drink pop or rum so beer and water were my drinks of choice). We took a boat out to the catamaran had to go back because we for got a few people. On the Catamarn there was Water, rum, coke and sprite. Bathroom has no toilet seat, but was fairly clean until people started getting sick from drinking too much. Quiet ride some music playing but not a dancing/fun vibe as I have had on multiple other catamaran trips. Overall we made the best of it but would not recommend. If you are like me I read reviews before booking and this was not worth the money. I of course can survive without beer but not having water to offer on a trip with children is pretty poor planning. Also saying you have an all inclusive trip is a stretch when it applies to only at certain times. Book elsewhere

• A Horrible Day in La Romana at Catalina Island

  The excursion was a total failure on the part of your company! The entire day was spent waiting: 1). 1 hour delay at the departure location, which was extremely crowded and chaotic. There was no clear directions as to which bus we needed to board. Since there was so much traffic at the pickup location , traffic jams delayed our departure again. 2). To our surprise, the bus drove into a gas station while the driver filled up the bus with fuel. This is entirely unacceptable, a waste of our time, and a ploy to get tourists to spend money the cafe on water, coffee, and other items. 3. Upon arrival at the departure point to transport us to the island, we waited another hour until they could locate a boat for us to take to the island. When they finally found one, boarding was unsafe and disorganized again. It was very dangerous for my travel companion, who was older than most of the people on the tour, which immediately made me feel uncomfortable that she may injure herself. It was a small boat, and not a catamaran as we had been told it was to be. 4). When we arrived at Catalina Island, disembarking from the boat was also extremely unsafe for my family member. She was assisted, but I was still concerned for her safety. 5). We were then shown to our area, again, the explanation for the day’s events were spoken in Spanish. We surmised that we were assigned to the blue lounge chairs only, where there was not enough for our party, since some of them were already occupied or broken, so several people had to drag chairs over from another section. 4). Lunch was promised at 1:00, but not served until 2:30. The food was mediocre at best, and definitely not a balanced meal. Some items ran out before people could get them from the run-down buffet. The so called “open bar” that we were promised had only Rum and Coke, or Pina Coladas, which we had to pay for ourselves. In addition, the restrooms were dirty and unkept. 5). Later, the flamboyant director announced that we were going to snorkel, and invited us to board another tiny boat to take to the location. Some people were not present, so they missed the experience altogether. The snorkeling area was barren, with little to no wildlife. I have been snorkeling in other parts of the world, but this was a total wash. The activity was very unsafe, as participants were not given any instructions, and the boat was overloaded as were all the others. 6). Departure was much later than planned, as there were no available boats to take us back to the mainland. We were the very last group to depart from the island. Everyone was up in arms, and standing in the blazing sun waiting for directions from staff members. We finally boarded another dangerously tiny boat and returned to La Romana. We were never instructed to go upstairs, and again were left waiting for directions. When we got upstairs, we found our bus was already loaded and ready to depart, waiting for us, thinking perhaps something may have happened to us. Again we waited about 45 minutes before the bus departed. 7). When we returned to the pickup point, we spoke to a female manager who was not helpful in the least, and told us that she would communicate our issues to the company. We were not offered any type of compensation, so we just swallowed our tongues and walked away to go to dinner, exhausted and filthy from the awful day we just had. As Americans, we expect to be compensated in some way, as most companies would do to redeem themselves. What do you plan to do????

  This is NOT a comfortable boat ride / excursion. It is a speedboat transfer to Sanoa island. We had fun, but it was chaotic, cramped and a bit overwhelming. Think of this as a taxi ride to the island. So that you know what you're getting. Also, we spent more time on the boat then we did on the island. Again.. we had fun. We had a good time.. but expectations needs to be set.

  Tremendous place !!! peaceful and snorkeling waters, there are excursions with speedboats that go to more distant and paradise beaches

  One huge tourist trap. The boat was fine enough. You stop at a sand bar and stand in waist high water while they take cheesy pictures that they later try to sell you. They give you plastic cups where you can drink rum and coke. Hundreds of people out there, just a big tourist spot. Then you get to the "private island" where when you get off the boat, people selling massages, bracelets, cigars, etc. bombard you and don't leave you alone the entire time. Once we set up our beach chairs we had no less than 25+ vendors incessantly trying to sell you stuff. Including waking me up and shaking my leg. They just start rubbing your shoulders with oil and then try to get you to pay for a massage. They put necklaces and bracelets on without your permission and then get mad when you take it off. Over and over again the entire time. Then you get into a cattle line for lunch where it's some pasta salad, some fruit, and give you 2 small pieces of terrible meat. The food was so bad, and there definitely wasn't seconds, so it's not a "hearty BBQ buffet." Then you wrap up by getting back on a boat, taking it to a catamaran where you bake in the sun for almost 2 hours to get back where all kinds of S. American tourists get drunk and are dancing to super loud music, falling over and screaming the whole time. It was hell on earth for us that don't drink and just wanted to get home. The icing on the cake aside from all the employees on the boat walking around the whole time with a hat asking for tips and trying to sell you more junk was the drive home in a cramped shuttle with a bunch more people while getting car sick from aggressive driving. Was a pretty miserable day where we paid almost $300 for 4 of us to sit on a beach for 2 hours in a tourist trap. Do not recommend.

• Journey to Saône Island from Bayahibe

  We took the excursion with Viator to visit Saône Island and it was an excellent experience. They were very punctual in picking up and transporting to the place where we took the boat. We first enjoyed the natural pool, which was spectacular, and then we went to the beach of Saona Island, where we were offered a delicious lunch. Our guide Max was extremely attentive, helpful and always kept an eye on the group. Also other members of the team took care of us very well, but he was the one who stood out. At the end, the pick-up back to the hotel was also punctual. Overall, an organized, responsible and highly recommended service.
