  We had a wonderful time with Melvin and his team (January 4th). It was a terrific excursion that everyone in our family really enjoyed : the visit to the turtle sanctuary, the mangrove (where we saw a wild turtle!), the snorkelling and the time we spent at Abanico Beach (before the arrival of hordes of partying tourists). This tour is highly recommended!

  Time: be prepared for a 12 hour day. This is a FULL day trip. Our day started at 5:50 am and ended at 5 pm. Our tour provider was incredibly timely- arriving a few minutes beforehand. Our guide gave exact timeframes and they were spot on. We never felt rushed through activities. Long transfers. This is not the fault of the provider- but if you cannot sit for long periods or have small children- something to think of Education: The additional education our tour agent provided was amazing. You could tell he actually enjoys his job. I loved that we were provided additional information on conservation efforts and how our tour provider was helping Experience: 10/10. Our tour provider went out of their way to ensure we had the opportunity to see things we did not expect- including turtles! Obviously they had no control over this but it was a lovely addition Overall- we would recommend this tour hands down!

  It is an early day, but there is a reason why it’s so early. They want you to the island before any one else. Everything was really professional and very informative of the culture and history of DP and the Islands. The food was very good and well prepared. It’s definitely worth the money and not a cent less. We had a really great time.

  We very highly recommend this tour! We were attracted to this tour because it offered a more personalized small-group experience that avoided big crowds and offered something different, and we definitely found it! This tour was fantastic from start to finish. Melvin takes obvious pride in doing things above and beyond what the bigger tours offer, and it made us feel good that he gives back to the community through his tour. For us, the highlights were: 1) Melvin is a great tour guide, very knowledgeable and informative, and really cares about his guests. His crew were also friendly and provided great service. We always felt safe and well-cared for. He's a fantastic tour guide! 2) We were first to arrive to Saona Island, and the earlier departure of this tour allowed us to enjoy the amazing beach a full hour or two ahead of the crowds and bigger tour boats. This alone is worth the extra cost of this tour and was an unforgettable experience. The beach is one of the best we've ever enjoyed! 3) The lunch Melvin serves is superb! We really enjoyed the grilled chicken, pork chops, potato and other salads. The sandwiches and fresh fruit and juice in the morning were also a great way to start the day. 4) Being able to see the authentic village of Mano Juan and learn about turtle conservancy was a special treat. We were lucky to see baby turtles, but this can vary based on if/when they are hatching, so don't expect it! There weren't really any negatives, this is a fantastic 5-star tour, but some things to be aware of: 1) The tour starts very early. We woke at 5:30AM to be ready for a 6:00AM pickup. It's tough to wake up early on vacation but you soon realize the advantage of this when you see the size of the crowds that have gathered at Saona Island that you avoided! 2) The early start means you are on the water at sunrise. So, the boat seats are still wet and the first 15 minutes on the boat are quite chilly. This may have you second guessing your decision at first, but don't worry, it warms up quickly as the sun rises. Bring an extra towel to sit on and a long-sleeve shirt to wear in the morning. 3) We had some difficulty boarding and leaving the rear of boat because the floor is awkwardly slanted. If you are physically challenged, this may be really difficult for you. While the staff was helpful, our recommendation to Melvin would be to fashion a simple wood block or step that makes this boarding easier. Take this tour! You won't regret it!

  After reading many reviews we opted for this group. We’re incredibly happy that we did. From pick up they were top notch professionals. Taught history of DR. Every step they were educating us as tourists. Came away with an even greater appreciation for DR. We were always first arrivals to every location, adding to the experience. Everything was incredible, don’t look elsewhere, this is the best choice!

  This excursion is an early and long day, but it is worth it. The guide was fantastic and provided us with so much information about the Dominican Republic, Soana, and the turtle reserve. Arriving at the beach early was incredible, as it was quiet and you could enjoy it before the hundreds of people on the catamaran tours arrived. The provided meals were really good as well. The guide also takes lots of photos of everyone and sends them to you at the end. I can't think of a single reason not to sign up for this excursion.

  If you’re thinking about booking this trip, stop thinking! Go ahead book it now! You’ll thank yourself later. Melvin and his crew were awesome! The beach, the starfish, the turtles—oh my! Enough rum to keep Jack Sparrow happy! SPEEDBOAT FTW!

  Just came back from Saona Island. It was absolutely amazing experience. I highly recommend this company. Very honest , professional, informative and helpful guide. Small group . Took us to see turtle sanctuary, Saoma with private part of beach and lunch, star fish sightseeing and snorkeling. Best excursion we did. Melvin has amazing knowledge and his crew is so friendly.
