Sarawak Cultural Village
The tour begins with pickup from your hotel at 9.00 AM or 2.00PM. You will be able to meet and greet our friendly English-speaking driver at the hotel lobby and proceed for the tour. The tour starts and proceed with a 30 minutes’ drive to Sarawak Cultural Village – ‘See Sarawak in Half a Day’ is a claim made by Sarawak Cultural Village, an unique award-winning living museum offering an excellent introduction to local cultures and lifestyles with the 48,000 square miles of Malaysia's most majestic State are condensed into just 17 acres. One leisurely stroll opens seven homes to the visitor, seven cultures, including the famous longhouses of Borneo. It’s popularly known as SCV, the Village is a “living museum” showcasing the seven major ethnic races of Sarawak; Iban, Bidayuh, Penan, Orang Ulu, Melanau, Malay and Chinese. Each ‘house’ is an exact replica of traditional dwellings down to the type of wood, landscaping and carvings with the various communities. Each building has a “storyteller” who is an expert in describing and interpreting traditional cultures and lifestyles. They will happily pose with you for photos. There are daily multi-cultural dance performances in the village’s own theatre.

Beautiful dance show and so interesting to see the different houses and learn something of the various cultures in Borneo. Would definitely recommend having a guide as added so much to my understanding ( not really a lot of info in the different houses and would have missed a lot without excellent guide )

I really enjoyed the Cultural Village Tour. Not only is everything beautifully laid out in a natural setting, but there are also very valuable displays and explanations (thanks to Wesley!) about the various tribes that live in the Malaysian part of Borneo. The museum area shows the tribal way of life of some of the ethnic groups of Sarawak. This half day was very enriching - well worth a visit!

Unfortunately the driver failed to pick us up. Numerous calls later, was told driver was 'busy' - despite having booking confirmed. Was offered next day tour - which was not convenient for us. Requested a refund which was processed the same day.

The cultural performance is very professional and polished. Each of the performers; musicians, dancers, singers, and comics and is talented, happy and smiling throughout. The village structures and artifacts appear very unique and authentic.

I had considered doing this on my own but I am so glad I opted for a tour. My guides knowledge made each house come alive and the show was excellent.

was travelling alone, took a driver for a day (details PM), with 2 or more drivers/day it is definitely cheaper than travelling with a tour, and you can see other things, stop wherever you want, you are more flexible. compared to Mari Mari and Monsopiad in Kotakinabalu, top sight. a collection of different homes of some tribes in Sarawak. There are also traditional demonstrations, such as specialties from the kitchen, weaving, making daggers and much more. There is also a dance show - although in Marimari I had the feeling that it was more authentic. bottom line: a must-see if you are in Kuching.
