With an expert crew, passionate guides and small groups (10 max), each excursion becomes an opportunity to marvel at marine life. Our approach is to provide knowledge and entertainment always respecting the space of the animals and creating unforgettable memories on each trip. We will meet 15 minutes before each departure in our Pura Vida cabin located in Valle Gran Rey port where you will meet the team that will accompany you on the adventure. To ensure a relaxed and peaceful experience we will give you a safety talk on board the Pura Vida, a traditional fishing boat from Menorquin. During our journey we embark on the exciting mission of searching for whales and dolphins while enjoying the environment and essence of sailing around the charming island of La Gomera. Next while enjoying a delicious picnic on board, we head towards Las Salinas beach where you will have time to relax with a swim and snorkeling. When we return, we leave the coast to finish and return to the collection point.

It has been a wonderful, unique and unrivalled experience, and especially with respect to those majestic animals that live in the sea such as calderones, dolphins and others. Of course it is worth mentioning the calm and exciting journey while we had with the organizers; Carmen and Maria. 2 brave and knowledgeable of the sea, who undoubtedly attended us wonderfully with their good work by circumventing any obstacle that presented us. It was a great tour! From the cozy boat and in a small group, the pilot whales could be observed great and quite respectfully. A whole family passed us by with complete confidence. After a small picnic, the drive home went along the impressive coast. Fatima showed and explained a lot - a real experience! I can only recommend the tour - thanks to Fatima and Carmen!

It was incredible to be able to see pilot whales in their natural habitat. Nice atmosphere on the boat. Good explanations and well guided by Fatima. Totally worth it.

I did a whale-watching tour with Pura Vida in November 2025 and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in observing animals in a responsible way. It’s a small family business run by energetic and knowledgable Fatima and experienced skipper Carmen. The boat is big enough to welcome 10 guests on board, but small enough not to make too much noise and hassle when out with the animals. Pura Vida has a “blue boat” certificate, which is not always the case when it comes to other tour operators and you can tell from the very first moment, that the animals’ well-being is their priority. Definitely worth spending few extra euros. We were lucky to see 4 pods of pilot whales (a total of 40-50 animals) and a hammer shark, but even without seeing them the trip gave a nice overview of the south coast of La Gomera and was very enjoyable. When observing the animals, we were listening to some classical music in the background, which made the whole experience even lovelier! The snacks and drinks on board were a nice touch too! It would be a shame if the authorities allowed huge cruisers to navigate around south of La Gomera, which they apparently plan to do. Money is not everything. They could invest in port infrastructure instead and contribute to the further development of sustainable tourism rather than mass tourism, which brings nothing but degradation of environment and local way of life.

A brilliant trip. The boat is small, there were about 10 of us. Fatima gave us a brief safety talk and told us about what wildlife we might see. We headed a few miles out to sea to look for whales and dolphins and eventually were lucky enough to see a group of dolphins and a group of pilot whales. The boat approached them slowly, and we were close to them but Carmen (skipper of the boat) cut the engines so we were no threat. They play classical music to the cetaceans, we were told the creatures recognise it. On the way back we were given drinks and snacks, which were very welcome. It was a fantastic day, and I would highly recommend it. The only thing I would change is that on the way back the crew played some 'easy listening'music and it was a bit loud for me. One thing you need to be aware of is that you are asked to remove your shoes and then climb down the fixed vertical ladder on the quay to get into the boat. You need to reverse this at the end of the trip (before regaining your shoes) . If you have impaired mobility you might struggle with this. Otherwise, be prepared for a great trip!

Beautiful tour to whale and dwlfin watching! The tour was led by Fatima and Carmen and was very respectful of the animals. We've seen pilot whales and dolphins. A real experience. You just shouldn't be prone to seasickness.
