As you approach Dynjandi, often called the “jewel of the Westfjords,” you’ll be greeted by a series of cascading falls that culminate in the majestic main waterfall — over 100 meters high and wide like a bridal veil.

What To Expect

Dynjandi (Fjallfoss)

Dynjandi, standing at an impressive 100 meters, is the tallest waterfall in the Westfjörðs. Its cascading waters flow over multiple levels, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Prepare to be spellbound as you take a leisurely 15-minute walk along the trails toward the falls, passing smaller waterfalls along the way. Even from a distance, the view is mesmerizing.

After immersing ourselves in the magnificence of Dynjandi, we make our way back to Ísafjörður, but not before one final stop. Experience the charm of Gemlufell Farm, a picturesque Icelandic working farm nestled in the idyllic Dýrar fjord coastline. Take in the serene surroundings as you savor complimentary tea, coffee, and a taste of Hjónabandssæla, a traditional Icelandic oat and rhubarb jam cake known as the "Happy Marriage Cake."

We had an amazing tour of the Dynjandi waterfalls and the guide provided an extensive history of the area. We saw a flock of arctic tern protecting their nest and young. Had ample time to visit the falls, which was super nice. Waterfalls has one section that is paved and very easy to walk. Another section that is not paved and another section that is all large rocks and uneven surfaces. There were two more hike sections which we did not do but I gather those were more challenging. Our guide was very professional, friendly, helpful, and had lots of local stories to shore. I highly recommend this tour.

Guide was good but new so kind of monatone. Long ride to falls but very different . The farm was a little extra special with the baby sheep

The hike to the top of the trail that leads to the upper falls is steep and rocky. Highly recommend hiking sticks for stability, especially coming back down. I would have liked to have had 1 1/2 hours instead of 1 hour, 15 mins. We were very rushed to make it back to the bus on time because waiting for the restroom takes 15-2O mins. The falls are stunning, just wish we had time to enjoy it a little bit. The farm visit was wonderful! I have to admit, I wasn’t excited about the stop, but it was so enjoyable! The owners of the farm are so sweet. She had homemade waffles with homemade jams, whipped cream and chocolate for us. Next we got to go in the goat and lambs enclosure and we got to bottle feed some baby lambs. The property is beautiful too. It was really a great experience!

A very nice tour. Benny was a great guide, knowledgeable, with a good sense of humor. Very professional. Loved the waterfall and we were provided enough time to do some hiking up to it. Also the sheep farm was fun for all of us and quite authentic.
