On this small group tour, we combine beautiful landscapes and the historic sites of Kinderdijk and Delft. Our experienced guides Eva and Sarah are skilled drivers and great hosts!
First we visit UNESCO world heritage site Kinderdijk, with its 19 windmills keeping the land dry for centuries! A boat tour and visit to the mills and pumping station is included.
We continue to the picturesque city of Delft, home to the famous Royal Delft Blue china factory! We first visit the town with its canals and gables. There will be time to visit the "new" and the "old" churches, with the graves of William of Orange and many other royalties. Or the Vermeer Center, dedicated to the famous painter Johannes Vermeer. Around the market square and famous town hall there will be time for lunch.
Before we head back to Amsterdam we visit the Royal Delft china factory and flagship store, with plenty of time to buy beautiful souvenirs!

World Heritage Kinderdijk
Our first stop for the day will be at the unique UNESCO world heritage Kinderdijk windmills. A system of windmills and pumps has been draining the water from the polder soil into the river for centuries. Over the years, the systems were improved, combining human wits, technology, and nature to work together to keep our feet dry, already for over 700 years! Admire the 19 original windmills in their stunning historical environment. You can enter a working mill to discover the personal stories of the millers and/or take a cruise for a better view from the water!
Delft
The sights of Delft, with its canals, gables, and towers, are extremely picturesque. The town is a lot smaller than Amsterdam, but just as pretty (and most important: with less tourists). Delft is home of the world-famous Delft Blue pottery and a visit to the factory, where you can see the process of making the beautiful pottery, is included. After that, you will have time to explore the city center on your own or with our experienced guide to tag along, just as you please. See the famous churches and marketplace, home to Vermeer. As it is your day out, we can custom tailor the tour upon your wishes. In Delft there will be time to have lunch as well.

I joined a small group tour to Kinderdijk and Delft as a solo traveler, and was incredibly lucky to be in a group of just three people—almost like a private tour! Our guide, Eva, was absolutely fantastic. She’s warm, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable about Dutch history, culture, and the places we visited. What impressed me the most was how effortlessly she managed to beat the crowds, timing everything perfectly so we could enjoy the windmills and Delft at their most peaceful. Highly recommended—if you get Eva as your guide, consider yourself very lucky!

Excellent all day tour of Kinderdirk and Delft with Ava. We thoroughly enjoyed our small group because Ava was informative and friendly and we were able to beat the crowds at Kinderdirk and we were able to take our time and watch the miller unfurl the sail on the windmill. The town Delft was delightful snd Ava gave us plenty of time for lunch and shopping. We then took a tour of the Delft factory. Ava gave us insightful commentary on our way up and back. We enjoyed visiting with the other couple on the tour as well. Highly recommend!

Honestly, the weather, after several days of rain and clouds, but we had an excellent guide who knew how to avoid the crowds of the nearby riverboat excursions, so there was no waiting in line! Also, after leaving Kinderdijk, we were given a choice of an excursion to Delft, the Hague, or Vurgt, which was most unexpected, but truly made ours a memorable day!

Had a great day trip with Sarah in a very small group of four. She was an excellent guide, very personable, informative, and well-traveled. At the end of the day she was even able to drop us off near our hotels instead of the meet-up point. Not sure if that is a regular thing but I very much appreciated it! The windmills were beautiful and fascinating, very educational and bucolic experience. I enjoyed seeing the smaller town of Delft after being in Amsterdam. We had time to explore the market, climb the New Church tower, and tour the Delft Blue museum/factory. All in all a great choice!

This was an excellent small group tour. We were fortunate to have good weather, so got to enjoy a boat ride up and down the canal in beautiful sunshine. It was great to see multiple windmills working, see the inside of a windmill, and see the canal system in action, raising water between progressive ditches. Delft was a lovely second location, and it was great seeing the pottery factory in action. The downside was traffic. Our guide was late arriving due to traffic, and also took an extra 45 minutes at the end of the day to drop us off due to traffic. (By contrast, our taxi drivers to and from had no trouble avoiding traffic and zipping us to/from our hotel. We went to Amsterdam Centraal multiple times during our stay and our taxis never took the same route twice. I'm not sure why this tour got stuck on this one road as if it were the only way to approach the drop-off point.)
