Stand Up Paddleboarding (or SUP as it is widely know) in Bude is a fantastic and fast growing sport to hit the water in the UK.

The large surfboard style paddleboard creates a stable platform for you to stand on and the extra long canoe paddle makes it easy for you to motor around in only a few minutes.

Stand Up Paddleboarding is less challenging than surfing which makes it an even more accessible for your family, friends and great as a large group activity.

Get kitted up with a suitably sized inflatable paddleboard and extendable paddle. Listen carefully to the instruction and you may not get wet… however you can get fitted with a wetsuit just incase! When you are on the water you will learn to how manoeuvre the board on your knees before getting up on your feet and explore the waterways looking like a pro!

great paddleboards, available to hire, i was surprised to discover it was a self service thing. I was expecting to meet someone at the sup hire place. luckily another client had more experience than us and advised us which paddleboards we needed and how to secure the finns a waterproof bag was availble also, so i was able to keep my car keys and phone with me. really loved exploring the canal it was so relaxing and a great way to see more of bude. highly recommend.

Hired the paddle boards to use along Bude canal, it was an easy booking system. Information for collecting and returning paddle boards was clear and easy to follow. Everyone enjoyed their time on the boards, would definitely use again when visiting Bude, and would highly recommend it to others!
As moderately experienced boarders we were allowed suitable freedom and were in a good group of similar age and skill.

Good instructor - James - very relaxed, personable and in control. A group 6 of similar age and skill worked well and all had foun . Great weather helped

We booked a 2 hour lesson for hubby and son and at the same time a2 hour hour for me and my daughter as we have been before. Daughter and I pootled around and then we all went up the canal together. The guy from free wave, James, was lovely, very calm and patient. It was a lovely trip up the canal a bit breezy on the way back and at times our 8 had old was struggling to get back so James attached his their boards together and helped him back. Made him feel very relaxed about it all and he really enjoyed his first experience of paddleboarding.

The instructor was brilliant. Boards and paddles were supplied. We had a great time paddle boarding on the canal. Loads of fun. Definitely worth a go.

Great experience did this with my 15yr old son we both enjoyed it James the instructor was a great guy and made our experience enjoyable all the equipment was spot on and the canal was so peaceful

I have been wanting to try paddle boarding for some time and thought a lesson would be the best place to start. Our instructor gave a great introduction on the things to do and off we went. We thoroughly enjoyed our lesson and time on the canal and would highly recommend Freewave. 😊

James was very welcoming and great at giving instructions . We felt fully included at all times, James was encouraging if you wanted to go further and stand paddle boarding ( and there when I fell off ) or just to sit and paddle we found it very peaceful . Only advise is to Secure your sunglasses ! 😎 we were in a group of six everyone was lovely !

We wanted to go Paddleboarding during our holiday to Cornwall and Freewave Surf Academy had just what we were looking for. James our instructor was very friendly, fun and knowledgeable. We had such a great time and will definitely be back to do more with them during future holidays.

The SUP hire was easily organised. The board was 1st class. So easy to get used to - and different from my own board. The canal was lovely and peaceful - if you exclude the hissing geese. Safety briefing included everything needed to keep me safe. I would definitely recommend this company for SUP hire for anyone - young or older.
