This was a beautiful day of touring some more rural areas of Japan, a nice escape from the cities. There was more walking than I anticipated- I planned for this to be a bit of a reprieve. My mistake. I did no research on the stops. I didn't go to the top of Kamishikimi as I didn't think I would have enough time. There was time for lunch at the gorge, or Amano Iwato. The mango ice cream at AI was 10/10! The rest stops were short, 10 minutes, so don't dally. I would have liked more information on the areas, temples, etc. Dress in layers as it will be cool when you first start walking, but as you move you will heat up! Of course, you will want comfortable shoes for this.
