You will be guided through a hilarious whisky tasting experience by professional comedian Daniel Downie 'unforgettable' (Scotsman) 'exceptional' (One4Review) who will teach you all about the process and history of whisky making in Scotland while making you laugh yourself silly! This is an experience that is both 'hysterical' and 'historical'! You'll enjoy four delicious malt whiskies from across Scotland and led through the whisky tasting process by a professional comedian and academic historian who has worked in the whisky industry. Daniel has for the last five years operated one of the most consistently highest rated tours of Edinburgh 'The Mountebank Comedy Walk of Edinburgh' and recently completed a Masters degree in Scottish history. This show is all about whisky and Scotland, you should expect some adult humor and language as well as a very friendly dog Brahan (aka the Bonnie Prince) who will be on hand to offer advice but mostly constant affection! This is an experience that promises to deliver drams and dramas!

5.00This was absolutely awesome! Daniel is incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Scotland and Whisky and absolutely hilarious. I am only in Edinburgh for a day and wanted a way to learn about the culture while having a drink and a laugh all at the same time and this is it! Definitely recommend to anyone visiting!

5.00Entertaining as always with Daniel. A fun whisky tasting for any level with the addition of a Fringe standard comedy show. Whiskies from 4 of the Scottish whisky regions are sampled accompanied by a description of how to get the best out of the flavours along with some gentle ribbing. If you haven’t been to a whisky tasting before try this one, if you have been to a whisky tasting before go anyway, it won’t have been as entertaing as this!

5.00If you like whisky, history and comedy, I’d recommend Daniel’s 90 minute Comedy Whisky Tasting. Relaxed, informative, edgy (at times) and good fun. Nice range of whiskies to taste (four in total) and Daniel’s knowledge, humour and passion makes it an enjoyable experience regardless of the level of your whisky interest. I’ll be booking his Tour.

5.00If you like Whisky or Comedy or History then this is a must do tour. Daniel was a great comedian and brought the story of whisky alive. Plus some very generous measures! Photo is of glasses for two! Great audience interaction. Thanks again Daniel for a great afternoon.

5.00We had the privilege to have allready been on the walk with Daniel & now time for his tasting. We love our single malts & Daniel taught us a thing or two about tasting notes & some history also. Daniel also is a very funny comedian & also extremely knowledgeable in all things Whisky, Edinburgh & Scots history. It truly was a perfect end to a very good day. Do yourself a favour & get along. Brahan needs a pat 😉

5.00This tour was both educational and funny - exactly what Daniel is going for, I suspect!! It was a great way to start our week in Scotland and get a bit of an introduction to whisky! Highly recommend for people that want to relax, laugh and learn a little in the process. We would definitely do this again. Thank you!!

5.00Daniel was outstanding. Fun, knowledgeable and I learned important things. I now the correct way to pronounce “ bowl bag”. I intend to use this descriptive liberally. As a New Yorker,,I’m always excited to add vocabulary that i can shout at cabbies. If you are concerned, he will temper it to his audience but I have always been a problem child. Make reservations because he is more popular than a cheeseburger during lent.

5.00Total thumbs up for Daniel. While our afternoon 3:15 tasting was small, it made it very enjoyable. I was not sure what to expect really. A Comedy Whisky Tasting? My wife who is not a drinker of Scotch came along and she said it was a highlight in our visit to Edinburgh. We didn't have time to spend all day visiting the Highlands or going to some distilleries. Daniel grew up as a wee lad in the Highlands and knows his scotch just as much (if not more) than the folks at the Distilleries. He had 4 different types of scotch to sample from 4 out of the 5 official scotch Whiskey regions. Daniel was not only informative he had a pretty good comedy routine as well. With a larger audience on a Saturday night it would be a hoot I would imagine. Anyway, thanks for the laughter and great 90 minutes of tasting some good scotch.

5.00Is there an option for more than 5 stars? Funny, educational and just damn good fun. If you’re in Edinburgh and looking for a whisky tasting don’t book a boring one and have an hour and a half of laughs and good times. Even had a whisky downstairs to celebrate 😅
