  Tortunga Island – Beautiful Experience with a Few Surprises My visit to Tortunga Island was overall pretty good—the views were beautiful and the vibe was relaxing. However, there were a few things that didn’t quite match the pictures or expectations. First, the water didn’t look like the photos advertised, which was disappointing. They also charge $1 every time you use the bathroom, which felt unnecessary and a bit inconvenient. On top of that, the $4 Wi-Fi really wasn’t worth it since the connection was weak. Another unexpected moment was transportation. They mentioned dropping me off somewhere different from where they picked me up, which was confusing. Thankfully, they did end up taking me back to the original pickup spot, but it made me wonder why the sudden change in plans. Overall, I enjoyed the island, but I think future visitors should be aware of these small surprises so they can plan accordingly.

  Jose Otero from Transekur was a wonderful driver and engaged us with great conversation. He’s a good man and told us a great deal about life in the DR.

• Excellent almost everything. Very good organization. Great scenery and lots of peace. Too bad he wasn't the best back.

  It was 4/5 because the return we did not like that we were left somewhere other than the first leg, arguing that there was no time.

  Excellent. Organized well and allowed us to combine both cultural and adventure activities in our trip to San Jose. Bus ride was very comfortable, the boat ride was a blast and the beach was beautiful! Would recommend this to other families looking for an island adventure! Breakfast isn’t provided but we made a nice stop at a Sopa that had decent options for a breakfast. Lunch was great and I would recommend taking snacks with you for the evening ride home.

  The day before, WhatsApp message to tell the time of passage to the hotel (04:30 for me). En route, stop for breakfast (not included). Arriving at Puntarenas, we embark for 40 minutes crossing (life jacket mandatory and provided). Then 5 hours on the island which is private, access only to the beach or excursion to request on site at an extra charge. Non-smoking island. Pineapple and Watermelon snack then at noon, meal provided and coffee. Then back to the hotel with a short toilet stop.

  They should carry a backpack where they keep clothes to change after the ride. The boat trip is very exciting.

  The actual activity was great but they refused to drop us off back at the meeting point stating they couldn't detour that way they left us at airport causing uber to take 30 minutes to pick us up

  Comfortable ride to coast- stopped for breakfast with lots of choices as well as a place to get souvenirs. Places to change into suit at dock. Stopped boat to see dolphins and whales. Water was murky during snorkeling but fish surrounded us since they feed them on occasion. Island was beautiful! Other groups arrive but enough room for everyone. Lunch was delicious and had vegetarian option! Did the nature hike- pretty easy with beautiful overlooks! Mamo guide was warm and friendly and we lucked out with a very small group.
