Come with us for our Express Aurora Hunt and have a guaranteed early return to Tromsø city centre. Leave the city lights behind and travel into the Arctic wilderness. During this activity, our small team of Aurora guides check the forecasts and uses local knowledge to decide on the best place to chase the Northern Lights within an hour's drive from town. On this activity, we will travel wherever looks safest and with the best chances of seeing the Northern Lights within 1 hr of Tromsø city centre. Once we arrive at the best location, we will be waiting for the show to begin. In the meantime, our guides will tell you stories about the North and the science behind the Aurora. We'll have you back to the city centre by midnight, so you can be well rested the next morning.

Participants must be over 4 years old - we can accept younger children, however parents must bring car seat, thermal clothing and meal, and office must be informed

Some evenings we will drive inland or towards the coastal islands. The decision is made based on the safest environmental conditions for driving as well as the conditions for finding gaps in the clouds.

We took the short four hours tours and so glad we did that. On our second stop we were able to view the Northern Lights (Aurora). I must say that our guide Ellie did an awesome job! She has a 100% success rate and hope she maintains it. Also, the tea, hot cocoa and cookies were delicious.
They didn’t show up.

I changed my plans to join the tour, bought dinner to be on time. Completed liability form, received paid confirmation number. Was absolutely at correct address from early to late. YOUR BUS DID NOT SHOW UP.

I went on a trip with Anna, and it was amazing. The weather was tricky, but Anna took the time to figure out where would be the best to go, and it worked out super fine. We managed to find a nice beach area where we had clear sky and northern lights! She was good at explaining everything behind the northern lights and about the area. It was a look of work for her as she was guiding us and driving us with icy road, but she was amazing in everything. I recommend her!

Amazing trip thanks to our knowledgeable guide Max, who found clear skies and made sure we had the best possible viewing spot and even help with photography, provided warm drinks and snacks. An unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience — highly recommend!

Aneta brought us to chase the light at two spots, we got extremely lucky and saw the green lady after camping for half an hour. She got us tea and cookies and we are really glad she offered us due to the cold weather! Really professional and we are very happy.
A great way to hunt for the lights with children

I decided to go for the express tour as my daughter is 12 and didn't want her to be up all night. This tour was perfect, being only 4 hours with a pickup of 8pm. Even in the Polar Night though, when with children, a longer tour will test their patience! We were picked up on time and with this tour, it's a much smaller group. Evgeni was our tour guide and he was brilliant. Really polite and knowledgeable. He'd even brought some treats as it was Halloween 🎃. With Tromsø, the weather can change so quickly so a tour like this is the best way to help improve your chances. Evgeni was able to check in with other lights tours and weather stations to get us to the best spot and a spot that was secluded and crucially away from all the lights! Overall, what an experience, I can't recommend Wandering Owl enough.

Evgeni was able to locate the lights only 30 min from Tromso, even though the forecast was not very good. We were able to see the lights dance in green and red it was truly an amazing experience. He was also so knowledgeable about the science behind them and the stories about their history. Cookies were also delicious!!!
