Xkopek is a unique place in Valladolid where you will find a magnificent dry cenote, where you can meet several species of native bees, bees without stings, bees that were very important for the Mayan culture. Xkopek is a project of a family of Mayan beekeepers that seeks to raise awareness about the care of bees and the rescue of Mayan culture and traditions.

We will start the experience on a walking tour to the point where we will start a descent down a stairway to a dry cenote, there we will see some varieties of local plants, we will know their use and importance, we will enter the vault of the cenote where we can see some Local bee varieties in their wild state, it should be mentioned that bees do not sting because they do not have stings. Later we will walk through a path in the jungle where we will identify the main plants for the production of honey. We will arrive to our meliponario where we will talk about the process of honey coke, we will know about the other products of the comena as well as their health properties and we will even be able to open a beehive to observe the amazing architecture of the bees. We will make a tasting of honey and other products of the hive. And finally we will visit our small store of honey and souvenirs. Of course we will not forget the souvenir photo at the end of the experience. It is necessary to wear comfortable shoes for walking and closed shoes. Use organic mosquito repellent. We are a team of 4 guides, Jorge, Dianela, Gerardo and Julia, so one of us can accompany you in this experience

5.00We really enjoyed this visit to the beautiful Apicol Park of Xkopek! Our guide has taught us a lot about melipone bees and other species. We could also observe them in their habitat and see their work inside their hive! We did an instructional tasting of honeys, propolis and pollen and discovered the properties of each. The museum and shop are good complements to the visit! We finally finish this tour with the delicious food on offer! We recommend this fun and instructive activity!

5.00Excellent drop-in tour, easily combined with an early trip to Chichen Itza. It is not only about bees, but about their deep connection to Mayan culture. If you go without a tour, be sure to ask just for the tour (no meal/day pass). Prices aren't posted. Regardless, it was a highlight for my family, and the guide was so knowledgeable about answering all of our questions.

4.00Fun and educational experience on the way back to Tulum from Chichén Itzá. I recommend this tour, especially for families with kids, BUT I did not give them 5 stars because the bilingual tour was imbalanced. The tour guide provided much more information for Spanish speakers and less for English speakers (I understand both, but my family members do not). My suggestion to the tour guide is to switch languages more often throughout the speech so that all the guests stay engaged and receive the same amount of information. Those who are monolingual got bored when he was speaking the other language exclusively for 10 minutes.

5.00The tour was very educational. We learned about the different types of bees which live in the surrounding area and the roles they play in the local ecosystem. We got to see inside some of the hives opened up which was very interesting and then trying some of the honey products afterwards was enjoyable.

5.00Such an informative and engaging excursion - highly recommended. From the tour of the dry cenote, to the beehives, the honey tasting and the delicious lunch, it was 2 hours well spent and good value for money.
