For the visit of the Basilica suitable clothing is required (no shorts)

Bad idea to use them in a foreign country

Do not book with Viator in a country you are not familiar with and may not have good cell service. My friend and I couldn’t cancel because we were 15 minutes late in contacting them due to no cell service in Italy.

This was our first time visiting Venice and we booked this tour as a day trip from Florence, taking a 7:25 am train arriving in Venice at 9:35 am. We prescheduled our return on a 5:25 pm train. Our tour began at 11:15 with check in at 11, but it took 30 minutes of a direct walk to the meeting place and back to the train station later, so we didn’t have much time before or after the tour to explore this beautiful place. This was a very informative tour through the Basilica and Doge Palace, however, my husband and I both felt that the time in these two places, although magnificent, was a bit too long. The Gondola ride was awesome! It included the Grand Canal as well as some smaller canals and we really enjoyed seeing Venice from this perspective. Even though the ride was only 30 minutes it didn’t feel like it was too short at all. We finished at approximately 3:15 pm and decided to sit down for a nice lunch on the canal. Skip the line feature is a huge plus as lines were waiting and we just walked past in our group. Overall I would recommend this tour just make sure you give yourself more time if doing a day trip only.

There are a lot of steps to climb so they need to be aware of that. But overall it was a very interesting tour.

Allow plenty of extra time to arrive at the meeting point. Do not trust the public transportation system to be effective. Do not trust the Viator Support to be helpful. their meeting place was hard to find and no one mentioned that the day or the tour was an Italian bank holiday. Customer service was very poor.
