The Tower of Himeyuri
The Himeyuri Monument stands as a solemn tribute to the schoolgirls and teachers of the Himeyuri Student Corps who lost their lives during the Battle of Okinawa. Mobilized as nurses for a field hospital, many perished in the chaos of war after the hospital was disbanded. The monument quietly honors their sacrifice and reminds visitors of the tragic human cost of war and the importance of peace.
Himeyuri Peace Museum
Adjacent to the Himeyuri Monument, the Himeyuri Peace Museum offers a powerful, personal look into the experiences of the Himeyuri students. Exhibits include diaries, photos, testimonies, and personal belongings that tell the individual stories of those who lived—and died—through the war. A visit here offers not only historical insight but also a deeply human reflection on the meaning of peace.
