Our Classic Camping/Hiking Adventure is a traditional way of visiting Yosemite without the “roughing-it” experience of backpacking. We will shuttle daily from our campsite, with daypacks and lunch in hand, to our selected hiking destinations. As the #1 guide service in Yosemite, our tours highlight a variety of iconic and popular features throughout the park, as well as some lesser known gems. We will hike to the top of giant waterfalls, along glacially polished granite, through alpine meadows full of wildflowers, and past giant sequoia trees. We will stand atop granite domes and reach the top of a major summit. Along the way, your professional and knowledgeable guide will share the history of Yosemite as well as information about the geology, natural history, plants, and animals.

You will meet your guide at Half Dome Village at 1:00 PM. This will be followed by group orientation and introductions. Today we will do an easy, flat hike of the famous Yosemite Valley, pointing out some of the iconic peaks and waterfalls. After the hike, we will relocate to the campsite where we can relax and lounge before dinner. After dinner we will enjoy some warmth and good company around the campfire. Total Mileage: 4 miles.

Mist Trail
After a hearty breakfast, we will shuttle to the Happy Isles trailhead to hike the famous Mist Trail. This hike gets you right up next to two of Yosemite’s most well-known waterfalls, Vernal and Nevada Falls, and along the eastern edge of the aptly named Panorama Cliff. You will complete your loop and return to the valley via the famous John Muir Trail, offering new perspectives of the waterfalls you just hiked beside. Following the hike we will catch the shuttle back to our campsite for dinner and relaxation. Total Mileage: 7.2 miles

Glacier Point
After an early morning breakfast, we will head to Glacier Point, where we will spend time taking in the views and history of this famous landmark. From Glacier Point we will hike to the summit of Sentinel Dome at 8,122’ for amazing 360-degree views. After descending Sentinel Dome, we will follow along the southern rim of the valley to the famous Taft Point for an amazing view into Yosemite Valley from the cliffs above. Total Mileage: 7.0 miles

Mt. Hoffmann
After a hearty breakfast, we will shuttle to the May Lake parking lot where we will have the option to summit Mt. Hoffman at 10, 850’. This is the geographical center of Yosemite as well as John Muir’s favorite view in all of Yosemite. On our way back, we will have a chance to take a dip in May Lake. As time permits we will shuttle into Tuolumne Meadows for a quick overview, and perhaps, another amazing sunset opportunity. We will share a warm cooked meal around the campfire when we return back to camp. Total Mileage: 6.0 miles

Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias
After breakfast we will pack up and depart for our last hike. We will hike down into the famous and historical Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias as your guide provides you with local lore and history on these ancient plants that thrive in only unique areas of the park. After this hike, we will return to Half Dome Village for some snacks before our final goodbyes. Total Mileage: 2.5 miles

5.00My daughter and I had a fantastic 5 days in Yosemite with Lasting Adventures. Our group of 7 was well looked after by two excellent guides, Matt and Alex, who showed us so many highlights of this beautiful place and were extremely knowledgeable about the history, geology and wildlife around us. We also enjoyed learning about the native American tribes who were the first inhabitants of the area, and hearing their traditional stories about how some of Yosemite's extraordinary granite features were formed. Matt and Alex's organisation was faultless and we enjoyed some delicious meals around the campfire. The walks were pitched perfectly for us (challenging at times but not overly strenuous) and Alex and Matt were always supportive, encouraging and aware of differing needs within our small group.

5.00Summer Camp. I have had two children go to Lasting adventure summer camps many times now, and we keep returning year after year. Always the highlight of the summer, and the place where the kids have forged lasting friendships and unforgettable experiences. As an organization, Lasting Adventures is top-tier. They deliver the best guides and the best experiences over and over. Over the course of four years, there have only been wins.

5.00My 14 year old had an amazing time on the 13 day Yosemite backpacking trip. He was so relaxed and calm and had such confidence. With so much going on for young people over these past years, getting outdoors and learning skills to take care of yourself and fellow campers has been a great antidote. He did the 7 day trip last summer and I"m so pleased with Lasting Adventures. All parts were well organized and helpful; guides couldn't have been better. Highly recommend this company for getting out in nature.

5.00My daughter recently went on the Yosemite Young Adventurer's Program, 13-day High Country Adventure. She had a great time. While she did have camping experience however, she had little experience with backpacking and the leaders put her at ease. Would definitely book with them again.

5.00The Classic Camping Adventure was an excellent way to experience Yosemite for those who do not want to carry a 35 pound pack on a hiking adventure or those who are not experienced campers. Lasting Adventures provided the required equipment, organized the activities and cooked the food. We could focus on relaxing and enjoying the experience of Yosemite. It was a very enjoyable trip with knowledgeable guides.

5.00Went on the 6-day backpacking trip from Tuolomne Meadows to Half Dome. Was truly one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. + Experience - legitimately felt like diving headfirst into a Lord of the Rings movie. The locations we went to included the Yosemite highlights and the off-the-radar gems. + Guides - our guides Kara and Jack had the rare combo of a) the authenticity of true wilderness spirits and b) the intense care ensuring we all had a great experience + Logistics - everything was thought through. From having moleskin in case I had a blister to preparing a literal spaghetti dinner at 10,000 feet For someone looking for an authentic backpacking trip, couldn’t recommend this trip more.

5.00Our first ever family TENT camping trip AND our first trip to Yosemite was with Lasting Adventures - what a wise choice!! We had a 5-day "Classic Camping" trip with a guide. The tents, bedding, trek poles and day-packs they provided were perfect for a family flying in from FL. The information on the website was very useful and the steady email communication (and phone calls) prior to our adventure were great. Where do we even begin?? Our guide, "Critter" was AWESOME. First day he met us at a bus stop in Half Dome Village and took us to our campsite which was completely set up. Critter was energetic, down-to-earth, funny and obviously passionate about people, Yosemite and nature. Every morning we woke up to the aroma of coffee and a delicious breakfast and while we got ready for the day he set out food for packing lunches to take on our hikes. Some of our trips included Yosemite Falls, Toulumne Grove and Toulumne Meadows, Sentinel Dome, Taft Point, Tenaya Lake, and Bridal Veil Falls. Our favorite was the John Muir Trail up to the Vernal and Nevada Falls descending on the Mist Trail. Critter suggested each day's itinerary and let us know the level of difficulty and gave us other harder/easier options. He let us know that we could choose whatever we wanted to do, but, new to hiking we found his suggestions perfect for our family. During the hikes he shared history of Yosemite, info on what we saw along the way as well as funny/scary/bizarre stories of the area. He kept a great pace which our sons in their mid-twenties and my husband appreciated but was also SO kind and patient in stopping for breaks when one of us (me!) fell behind. After an early morning and a full day of hiking Critter came back to camp and cooked wonderful dinners over the fire and did the dishes insisting that we not help but relax around the campfire. Words in a review really cannot capture what a memorable and wonderful adventure we had...if we could choose 10 stars for Lasting Adventure and our guide we would!

5.00We worked with Lasting Adventures to create a custom trip for my daughter’s Girl Scout troop and families (kids 3-8). They were easy to work with, made sure we had any and every opportunity and offered to help with the badge curriculum. Kirstin & Shelby were our guides and they were OUTSTANDING! Set up camp, cooked, cleaned, engaged the kids, and taught outdoor skills with a smile at every turn! Grace, patience, understanding and a sense of adventure ooozzzeeddd from their souls. Not only did every child thrive, many who had never camped before discovered a love for the outdoors. While driving home from our “Lasting Adventure” my daughter declared she wanted to be a guide just like Kirstin for Lasting Adventures when she grew up!
