A fabulous day in Takayama, we met our guide inside the Takayama train station, then on the private mini bus. It was just 2 of us on the tour. A lot of other tour companies may have cancelled but Snow Monkey tours took us on our tour. Felt like it was just for us. Fabulous guide and driver, lots of information and safe travel. Our guide was very friendly with good English. If we asked a question & he didn't know, he would find out for us. Village Museum very interesting, Limestone caves & Museum good (quite a few steps to climb inside) Drive up the mountains wonderful as we see more snow & a few monkeys. Rope way rides to the top were beautiful. Snow covered trees, white mountains & blue sky. Easy paths to walk in the snow through the trees to get some great photos. We left at 9am and were dropped back at our hotel at 5.30pm. A great day out, thankyou very much for a fantastic, memorable trip to Takayama.

Excellent experience with Hemi again and we thoroughly enjoyed our day with the itinerary. Due to weather, he was flexible in switching around certain portions of the trip to ensure that the ropeway would have good views instead of being impeded by rain. The folk village was like being transported to a movie set with lots of good photo opportunities and history learning. We also enjoyed the caves which were easily reversible and ended with beautiful nature views. The ropeway was the highlight of the trip with amazing views and charming cafe with delicious baked goods after experiencing some of the chilly weather.

Absolutely brilliant day. The today is stunning. We were super lucky to get a clear day so views were amazing. I love a cave, the last bit, part 3 has some steep old steps but anyone with a moderate walking ability should manage parts 1 and 2 easily. Hida village is very cute too some lovely picture opportunities. Would definitely recommend this trip and Yoshi our guide was great, very knowledgeable and great sense of humour. Thank you Yoshi!

This was a great tour to finish our time in Japan. Our guide Yogi was very informative and took care of everyone in the group. We visited the old village and then the limestone caves which were great. The highlight was definitely the ropeway up through The Alps. Despite the weather obstructing the views it was still spectacular to see all the snow still falling in Spring.

We had a spare day on our group tour of Japan so decided to venture further from Takayama. Our guide Yoshi was a wealth of knowledge and changed the order of the tour to suit weather conditions. This enabled us to take the ropeway to the top and take in magnificent views and walk through the heavily laden snow path. The visit to the caves was great but included a lot of stairs, some steep. Something to bear in mind if stairs are an issue for you. Last stop was the enchanting Hida Folk Village - a marvellous step back in time. My husband and I learnt more about Japan in one day from Yoshi than we have learnt from our current group tour guide in a week. Mini bus was comfortable and very clean. Thoroughly recommend this tour.
