Katara Cultural Village

The Pearl Island
The name "The Pearl" was chosen because the island is being built on one of Qatar's previous major pearl diving sites. Qatar was one of the major pearl traders of Asia before the Japanese introduced cheaper more affordable pearls just before Qatar's oil boom. The Pearl-Qatar helps to represent Qatar's rich past in the pearl industry. The Pearl is said to resemble a string of pearls. A Riviera style man-made island developed in an exclusive enclave of Doha. It is the Middle East's most glamorous address, covering 400 hectares of reclaimed land and Qatar's first international urban development venture.

5.00The car was a bit disappointing for the price we paid, we expected a more luxurious vehicle but our tour guide, Asif, was a real gentleman and has delivered the rest at the highest standards, he kept going over and beyond to make sure the experience was a great choice 👌🏻 He is very well informed and has an amazing attitude, I would definitely consider Atif for a safari tour in the future

5.00If you have a long layover at DOH book this 4 hour or less private tour of DOHA. Sam picked us up on time with a clean cool SUV with water available. He gathered are bags and we were off to see the city. He is very knowledgeable of DOHA and just hand him your camera because he snaps the best pictures! No worries just book it. If you have to be back earlier For you flight Sam has you covered. We visited all the sights an SC stopes for dessert and hot chocolate. My husband even got to hold a real live hawk in one of the stores at Souq Waqif.

5.00Our driver was right on time for our pick-up, communicating with us to insure we could locate our meeting place. He gave us background information for the sites we saw, answered our questions and offered to take photos so my daughter and I could both be in the pictures. The vehicle we traveled in was comfortable, had A/C, and water to drink. A great 4 hour taste of Doha.

5.00Samer met us at the airport even though there was a delay. We were picked up at 9:30 pm so we got to see the city with all the lights and the cooler weather. We went to the souk, the new city, the brand new cultural center and the even newer Pearl Islands. Everything was sparkling clean and beautiful. Sam even bought us chapati and karak (chai) which was delicious! He was full of knowledge and history and answered my (many!) questions. All in all quite worth it and easy to leave the airport during a layover. A visa is required upon arrival which cost around $20 each. Got back to the airport in plenty of time.

5.00A superb tour with our driver Saleem (pay him double salary) making sure we saw all the sights and sites of importance. His knowledge of the background of each place we visited was invaluable. This was a truly memorable experience which left us wanting more so we will be back and Saleem will be the guide for us! We finished the day with a one hour sunset cruise in a dhow across the bay and watched not only the sun go down but the west bay skyscrapers illuminate into a memorable light show - don’t miss that!
