Ine Fishing Village
Ine is a charming fishing village located on the coast of the Sea of Japan in northern Kyoto Prefecture. It is renowned for its unique wooden boathouses, known as "Funaya," which translates literally to “boat house” in Japanese. Around 230 Funaya line the coast of Ine Bay, stretching for five kilometers. Each boathouse has two levels: the first floor is used for storing fishing boats and gear, providing direct access to the sea. This design makes the boathouses appear as though they are floating, as the first floor is almost flush with the waterline. The second floor contains a living area and is connected to the main house, providing access to the road. These distinctive houses have been around for over 300 years and offer picturesque views throughout the seasons. From cherry blossoms in spring to snow-covered roofs in winter, the Funaya of Ine Bay is a must-see destination for anyone looking to experience the beauty of traditional Japanese architecture by the sea.
Standing on the observation deck of Funayanosato Park, you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Ine Bay, renowned as one of the most beautiful bays in the world. It resembles a dazzling sapphire nestled between the sea and the mountains, captivating all who behold it. This location is perfect for appreciating the unique beauty of Ine Bay and Funaya. In addition to the stunning views, there is a wide selection of restaurants where you can savor local seafood dishes. You will also find a souvenir shop offering locally made crafts and gifts.

This tour was a good balanced one in terms of time and activities. We were able to get a good taste of the japanese countryside and get away from the hustle of the city. We met with our guide Jackson in the morning and drove 2 and half hours towards the fishing village of Ine in kyoto prefecture where we first did a nice 20min cruise so that we see the fishing village from afar. We were able to feed the seagulls that were coming towards the boat, a unique experience. Then we went to see the village from above and later had some time to walk throught it, see some of the funaya houses that are small museums and also we had a bit of time to drink a coffee. Then we went to amanohashidate where Jackson guided us to the cable car which leads to a viewpoint. He gave us the tickets that he bought for us before that so that we do not lose time and after giving us suggestion on what to do in the area he gave us free time. At the free time we were able to see the Chionji temple, stroll at the local shoppimg street amd try local food and also we walked at amanohashidate itself and the sandy beach nearby. Overall it was a nice tour and the guide Jackson was very helpful and organized everything to ensure that we had a good time. Thank you.

Amazing to get on a boat to see the harbour before stunning views at the top. The last stop is the best- choose the chair lift over the cable car, awesome ride and the views are stunning from the top with some cute rides for kids at the top. Amanda was clear, friendly and kept us all on track

The tour was great because it allowed you to NO longer know these places that may not be so easily accessible. The time allotted EN each stop and the organization was very good as was the transportation. I was able to do the 2 extra activities of the boat ride and the aerosilla without any problem, and communication was good EN with the participation in the WhatsApp group, DEtails were sent there that could be done EN each stop. The guide Steve was friendly, although it proved somewhat heavy as everything was explained EN 2 languages: EN Chinese and then EN English, as the tour is designed for the participation DE that audience, which was the majority. The way DE guide the tour ES NO like others EN which the treatment and participation becomes closer, but each group explores individually during the time granted. ES a good option if you find NO other way DE access Ine and Amanohashidate.

Excellent tour and very well managed by Steve and team !! Loved the pre-allocation of seats so it was not an ordeal for when we boarded. Great sights and well organized.
