La Fortuna Waterfall
The Fortuna River Waterfall is a natural area managed sustainably by Integral Development Association of La Fortuna (ADIFORT), a non-profit organization founded since August 31, 1969, having as its main objective to ensure the well-being and growth of La Fortuna community, through the work execution of road infrastructure, environment, education, promotion of sport and culture, community beautification and strengthening of public safety; projects that are possible to run thanks to funds raised by the visit of each tourist to this natural space. The Fortuna River waterfall is located in a biological reserve with an area of 210 acres of transition premontane tropical wet forest, part of the Arenal Volcano National Park and is located at 520 meters over the sea level, where there are sources of our mountains and the waters of the Fortuna River. Within this sector is the Cerro de los Perdidos, Placas de Mayo and Cerro Chato, which are based on rocky foundations of great geological value, causing in turn a lush and scenic beauty. To observe this splendid 70 meters high waterfall, visitors must pass a path of approximately 530 steps, which offers greater security to its passage and comfortable areas for rest and hydration through a forest with native trees of the area. Once in front of the waterfall, you will find a spacious and comfortable vantage point from which you can freeze your memories using unique and previously unpublished photographs, and finally take a refreshing swim in the clear waters of the Fortuna River, with an only witness (the River Fortune waterfall).

5.00A friend recommended Angelo Bajero, and from the moment I messaged him, everything was seamless. He quickly shared a detailed itinerary, pricing, and logistics—he’s incredibly organized and thoughtful. We were picked up on time in San José, and Angelo guided us through Mistico Park’s Hanging Bridges, the 1968 Volcano Trail, and a night jungle trek. He has an amazing eye for spotting wildlife and a genuine respect for nature, always ensuring we didn’t disturb the animals. The next day we explored La Fortuna Waterfall, Sloth Park, and had coffee overlooking the Arenal Volcano—every recommendation was spot on. He later drove us to Monteverde, arranging all our tours so we could just relax and enjoy. If you want a worry-free, authentic Costa Rica adventure, I recommend Angelo Bajero - Costa Rica nature guide. He’s local, knowledgeable, sincere, and truly passionate about what he does.

5.00If you book with Angelo, you will not be disappointed. He has years of experience and training and is very professional and dedicated. We communicated through WhatsApp before our trip, and Angelo helped us pick out the best tours for our needs. He responds very quickly and attentively to your questions and ideas. Once you meet Angelo, he makes you feel comfortable right away. With each tour he provides an excellent experience with knowledge and humor, and will take you to some great local restaurants. And having Angelo take care of your transport enables you to freely enjoy the scenery with a reliable and safe driver. You will get so used to his company, that when you part ways, you will miss your Costa Rica buddy!

5.00We booked our entire Costa Rican vacation to the Arenal area through Angelo! He was amazing!!! He drove us everywhere and stopped wherever we desired. He also pointed out places along the way that he thought we might enjoy. His vehicles are very comfortable and accommodating. If you are planning a vacation to Costa Rica this is definitely the group you want to book with. You can book everything including other excursions for different companies such as the Arenal Rafting Company or PureTrek for Waterfall repelling. I recommend doing both, but the rafting was definitely my personal favorite. Booking everything through Angelo was so much smoother than booking everything individually. Plus, if you book everything through him then all your tours with him are private! Angelo is definitely a professional, he is very prepared he also brings along his high powered binoculars, his scope, and professional camera (which he is very happy to share with you)! Here is what we did on our Costa Rican Adventure. Day 1 - Hiking through Mistico Park where there are many hanging bridges. Then we went to La Fortuna Waterfall. After, we enjoyed a lunch at a local spot called La Tiqueria which was wonderful. Last we did a hike up the Arenal Volcano. Day 2 - Arenal White Water Rafting. I highly recommend doing this, even you are not athletic or a little scared. The rafting team are highly experienced and do a great job of accommodating for everyone's skill level and the experience they are looking for. Day 3 - PureTrek Waterfall Repelling. If you are afraid of heights this one might not be for you. This was a super thrilling and adrenaline pumping experience. Prepare to get wet! In the evening we did a night hike with Angelo which was phenomenal! We saw so many different animals, especially frogs as it was mating season. Day 4 - Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge. This is an authentic and unique experience as Angelo is the only one that does tours to this wildlife refuge. If you are booking through a different group they are likely not taking you to the actual wildlife refuge, but rather another area close to it. So beware of scammers, and just book through him. Day 5 - Monteverde. We did the café, cacao, and sugar can tour at Don Juan. This was a really cool experience, and not to mention yummy! We also went to the cloud forest which is very appropriately named. This was my other favorite thing that we did. The forest was very majestic and we saw a lot of wildlife. Moral of the story, book your Costa Rica vacation through Angelo at Costa Rica Nature Guide!!! You won't regret it ;) His English is great, he knows the area very well, he is well educated on all the different plants and animals, and is eager about making your experience the best it can be. We will definitely be back and booking through Angelo! :)

5.00What a knowledgeable two guides. Very polite, very helpful. We saw howler monkeys, sloths, two kinds of toucans (keel billed and yellow eared) Yellow eared is extremely rare. We saw tannigers. Would highly recommend Brian and Angelo. Please check their tours out.

5.00Angelo was fantastic. We went to the hanging bridges and to a volcano hike. Both were incredible experiences that Angelo helped bring about. He was very knowledgeable, but not overbearing.
