Kandy Cooking Class was truly fantastic. The hosts were kind, fun and knowledgeable. We learnt so much about Sri Lankan food, cooking, culture and daily. You'll learn new cooking techniques that can easily be repeated at home as well You can discover our traditions and learn historical tips about our unique cuisine.

"AYUBOWAN Welcome to Kandy Cooking Class We are a traditional family lives near to Kandy city center. Our home is very close to the big Buddhas statue at the Bahirawakanda Mountain. Our Home located in a very calm and lovely green nature. Women are the best to make traditional foods because they cooked every day more or less three times per day. so no one having that much experience . Your teachers are my wife, our sister and our mother and sometimes my three little girls also join with you for the cooking they are very Cute. If someone like to get experience about the local market we guide them to visit local market and we explain about the spices and vegetable. Come to us and learn traditional cooking and eat divine food" We don’t have a chef for our class. The teachers are my wife, sister & mother Women are the best for the traditional Sri Lankan cooking We do the class inside our home kitchen , Also you can get an experience about Sri Lankan family life Come to us ,enjoy & learn our traditional Sri Lankan food End of the class we provide you the recipes If you want we can arrange pick up & drop off to your hotel (around Kandy city only).

Check out what I have made!!!! They are amazing!!! We start from the market, get to see how local market is like. Dinesha have introduce us special vege and fruits. When she was buying the mango, the owner of the fruit stalls are basically cutting out all different kinds of fruit and pass them to us. I feel like I had a fruit buffet😂 get to taste three different bananas. We get to buy everything based on the menu : 13 different curry!!! And then we got tuktuk to Dinesha house, very warm welcome from her family. I have made good friends with the young daughter! We were served with super yummy pancakes and tea at our arrival. They have such a lovely house facing the sunset. Most of the vege are washed and somehow prepared for the cooking class. Very well presentation of different ingredients. We could take turn to learn from how to open up a coconut, “carve” the coconut with a local “carving” machine, and get prep for the cooking. Basically, the recipe are not complicated, but there are a lot of details and tricks to make it to another level. I enjoy every step of the cooking part. The making of sambals and rotti is so much fun! We got to see the stone “board” that is passed down in the family for more than 100 years old! And we get to see the stove that is still using woods to heat up. Finally the dinner part, I am telling you guys, in my two weeks of stay in Sri Lanka, I HAD THE BEST RIE AND CURRY, HERE!!! It’s just way too good. Way better than any restaurant I have ever been to. AND WE MADE THEM OURSELVES!!! I ate two plates, until I cannot stuff anything more. I left my funny drawing in their review book. THE BOOK IS THERE FOR YEARS WITH REVIEWS FROM ALL AROUND THE WORLD! It’s just so nice to see that the cooking class have more and more customer back after the COVID. I really hope this can goes on for years and years so then I can bring my mom to come! If you are at Kandy, and want to experience the greatest cooking class experience, please don’t miss this!

The most warm and charming family all together taught how to prepare a range of curries plus sambal plus roti. I learnt a lot and loved the dishes. Thoroughly recommend this experience delivered in the family’s home kitchen.

The cooking class was absolutely amazing. We prepared a lot of different curry and everything was delicious! Also we went to the market to buy all the vegetables and spices and was a really nice experience. I really recommend cooking with such a welcoming family! Thank you

Great experience! They welcome you right into their home and all the women in the family follow you step by step to prepare many delicious Sinhalese dishes. You end up eating them all! Recommended

It was a great experience. Them are a nice family. But they charge us 35 euros each and now we saw 30 euros each in tripadvisor, it's better to make a reservation on Tripadvisor. Thanks

This is the most rewarding experience both in regards to the culinary skills you get but also because of the wonderful team of chefs; the course - we learned to cook the best curry dishes we have ever tasted - and to be cooking in the private home with the team of strong, exceptional nice and warm women - was an next level experience! You will not regret to take this course on the contrary you will have an experience to remember and it will definitely make you a better chef!

We really enjoyed the cooking class! It was a great experience to learn to cook traditional Sri Lankan dishes in a family home. Everything was delicious, and we learned a lot about the ingredients and traditional methods of preparing them. Definitely would recommend!

We had a fantastic experience with Best Kandy Kitchen. We began by walking the busy local market to buy vegetables, spices and fish, then tuktukked to the family home. Such a beautiful, gentle, friendly family! Bit by bit we were guided, hands in, to assemble and amazing 12 course banquet (included rice & papadams). The family Mum was a treasure, strong, feisty and humorous.
